RFI: this unreleased awesome electro-pop Kompakt thing

A friend made me a cd with this incredible track on it, labelled only as 'unreleased song kompakt records. The friend has no further info about it. I've emailed the Kompakt people about it but no reply, so I'm wondering if ILM can help. It's a female vocal with the occasional male line. It's slowish, electro, brilliantly catchy and a perfect 1am dancefloor banger. The lyrics aren't completely audible but here's what they might be:

"i walk away

fall down to ...

you turn away

falling down

im always walking, always walking away

im always walking, always walking away.. away"

If that's no use, I'll post a clip of it up here later. Thanks!

hehe my first thought was to YSI it to you and Barms, Stevem. I'll put a clip up tonight and if you like it, let me know and I'll send you the same thing (same for you, Simon). Just had a very brief listen to that track on the myspace and it's definitely not that but it's a little bit similar, maybe it's a remix

Well the track on myspace (which incidentally I hate and is on an advert for something or other in Britain) is a remix so I suppose it could be the original!

Curiouser and curiouser - I listened to that myspace song in full and there's ONE two-second bit but that could be from this song I have here, the vocal of the guy going "I walk away.." but the rest of it is completely different so maybe it is the original version of that. Plus this track I have has these echoey sireny-type bleeps all the way through that really remind me of something, probably a JLC trick or something.

Anyhow, here's the clip.

someone gave me a promo of this, and it's on something other than Kompakt. the remix that i think you MIGHT be talking about is the Tocodisco Remix ... that's the electro remix on that thing. if that helps, i don't know ...

Cameron Octigan (Cameron Octigan), Monday, 11 September 2006 21:10 (nineteen years ago)

the tocadisco rmx is on kitsuné

The Lex (The Lex), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 06:33 (nineteen years ago)

The sample you posted is not the Tocadisco mix... The Tocadisco remix has recently been bootlegged with the vocal from David Guetta's "Love Don't Let Me Go" (ugh!) wich makes it "Love Don't Walk Away", if that helps in your quest... Also, the Tocadisco remix is used in a Citroën commercial, with the Transformer-like C4 ice-skating on a frozen lake (the follow up to the one using Les Rythmes Digitales' "Jacques Your Body (Make Me Sweat)".

Ben (crispyben), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 06:53 (nineteen years ago)

actually, there is a Tocadisco Remix with hardly any vocals, and certainly nothing from David Guetta. and it's released on a label other than Kitsune.

in fact, after discogs-ing ... none of them are.

here are the 2 Tocadisco mixes:

1. Walking Away (Tocadisco's Acid Walk Mix)
2. Walking Away (Tocadisco Remix)

the record has been released on C2 Records, Full Force Session, Gusto Records, and Motivo Productions.

I really think the mix you are looking for is the second of those two mixes ... IF ... it is electro, as mentioned, and there is a small guitar bridge.

it really sounds like Rex The Dog, esp. towards the end.

That bootleg that is all over radio is like a Funky House version of "Rocker" and it's fucking horrible.

Re: Cameron, I don't think there are two Toca Disco mixes, but I could be wrong...

Ben (crispyben), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 16:18 (nineteen years ago)

I think it's the Dusty Kid Pop mix?
