I have my own ideas... but hit me.

Quinn (quinn), Monday, 11 September 2006 22:01 (nineteen years ago)

"Who are you?"

Marmot (marmotwolof), Monday, 11 September 2006 22:14 (nineteen years ago)

"Did the band record the music on the new album with no idea as to what you were singing or how you'd be singing it?"

Zwan (miccio), Monday, 11 September 2006 22:23 (nineteen years ago)

Will he ever re-release the Brokerdealer songs he recorded in between Lifter Puller and Hold Steady (7 or 8 tracks he spread over micro-distributed 3" CDs that are really good!)?

Tiki Theater Xymposium (Bent Over at the Arclight), Monday, 11 September 2006 22:25 (nineteen years ago)

Kenan I think all the people who'd like the Brokerdealer already have all the songs

Thomas Tallis (Tommy), Monday, 11 September 2006 23:07 (nineteen years ago)

Kenan? That's Ben, surely.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 11 September 2006 23:08 (nineteen years ago)

"If a picture paints a thousand words then why can't I paint you?"

timmy tannin (pompous), Monday, 11 September 2006 23:10 (nineteen years ago)

When I moved, I was going through a bunch of old records and I found a 7" from 1989 by a band from Edina, MN named 'No Pun Intended'. The guitarist is listed as Craig Finn. I haven't hooked up my stereo yet, but I assume it's the same CF. Ask him.

Mike Dixn (Mike Dixon), Monday, 11 September 2006 23:27 (nineteen years ago)

Craig Finn intends every pun, I'll have you know.

Erroneous Botch (joseph cotten), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 01:30 (nineteen years ago)

Ash him why he didn't save the Viking Bar.

p@reene (Pareene), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 12:04 (nineteen years ago)

M@tt He1geson: Real Name, No Gimmicks (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 15:19 (nineteen years ago)

re: "who are you?" - that's nardwuar's thing, not mine.

re: writing process - he's got a book of writing, and pieces things together to fit the songs as they come together in rehearsal... so it's neither words first, nor music first.

re: brokerdealer - he laughed a bit and said "i don't think so"... but he mentioned wanting to do a Lifter Puller "boxset" with a DVD and a thickass booklet and some other nice sounding things.

and i forgot to ask about the 7" cause we got caught up in other stuff.

Craig's a really nice guy.

Quinn (quinn), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 21:09 (nineteen years ago)

That clunking sound you heard was T. Tallis, Chuck, Nate and Matos's collective jaw hitting the floor.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 21:12 (nineteen years ago)

(...and Ben's!!!)

(and thanks a lot for asking, Quinn!)

Tiki Theater Xymposium (Bent Over at the Arclight), Tuesday, 12 September 2006 21:46 (nineteen years ago)

My pleasure... for the record, he said its something he wants to get started on next year, so it's a ways off.

i'm pretty psyched though.

Quinn (quinn), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 04:38 (nineteen years ago)

that does sound good!

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 14:28 (nineteen years ago)

Ask him if he's going to follow up on the remark he made when I interviewed him, when he said he'd move back to the Twin Cities if he could take light rail to a new outdoor Twins stadium.

Also, yes, boxset = hooray

nate p. (natepatrin), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 18:25 (nineteen years ago)

You should have asked him about how he feels about the Yankees. You'd have a book worth of material then.

John Justen,a ninja slapboxing fajitas out of J. Casablancas dental dam. (johnju, Wednesday, 13 September 2006 18:34 (nineteen years ago)

Did you ever consider joining Split Enz or Crowded House?

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Wednesday, 13 September 2006 21:18 (nineteen years ago)

The No Pun Intended thing is the same Craig Finn. It was his band when he went to Breck.
