I always liked his few songs with Fugazi, and I loved that recent Ataxia record with John Frusciante. Anyone else looking forward to this (on Dischord, of course, though I thought Lally lived in L.A. now...)?

Yay, I'm not the only person psyched about this album!

I've liked the Fugazi songs where they let Joe sing. He's always been the ultimate shy background guy overshadowed by three big personalities, so it will be interesting to see how this works out.

My friends and I have had a variety of running jokes about Fugazi for a while, one of which is that Joe secretly, virulently hates Ian and Guy.

I anticipate it will make me sad Fugazi is not still a going proposition. But looking at the details above makes me wonder if it will be a familiar sidestep, kind of like Colin Newman's more or less still Wire solo album "A-Z."

I think it's an unlikely scenario that it will be very Fugazi-ish, since Joe's always cited proto-"stoner rock" things like The Obsessed as his main influences (and Wino is credited with playing guitar on this album). If this on the level of songs like "By You" or "Recap Modotti," though, it really could be amazing.

Yeah, Joe's label put out Spirit Caravan (awesome), Dead Meadow...really solid. Always moving forward, hope it breaks down the walls. Nice - tour with The Melvins - check it out at http://joelally.com/

Though Joe was living in Los Angeles, he's been spending lots of time in the DC area lately. He's been playing live, but I keep missing the shows. I like that he has Eddie Janney on guitar. Eddie was in short-lived DC group Happy Go Licky (with Guy I think) many years back.

janney was in the faith and rites of spring too.

spirit caravan live was pretty cool.

"By You" is my favorite Fugazi song. This sounds interesting.

I've given this a couple of plays and am not yet blown away. I didn't, however, notice that Wino is on it, which implies that it might benefit from giving it some volume

I remember like 3 and a half years ago at the Black Cat, there was a benefit to pay for someone from Blonde Redhead's medical bills and Lally played 2 songs backed by French Toast and it sounded pretty good, I wonder if that material is on this album (seems like it could be, since Jerry Busher plays drums on it).

Harriet Tubman and Messthetics w/ Pirog, Lally, Canty could be interesting (although for me it could be too jazz-rock prog )
