Are they worth buying? Do any of them sound significantly better, are the bonus tracks worth owning, do they come with lyrics, etc. etc.?

to me they do not sound that different, though I haven't A/B'd 'em with my originals. The bonus tracks are great if you dig EHG!

brought this up here: TS: Eyehategod -VS- Melvins

booklets are the same except a few extra photos and liners by mike williams. the first one is noticeably better-sounding imo (louder)

Did anyone but me buy his book of poetry? I picked it up when everyone was donating proceeds or whatever to the get-MW-out-of-jail-post-Katrina fund. It works better howled.

three years pass...

the problem with listening to, say, Church of Misery is that midway through the first track I'm like "you know what I wanna listen to? Eyehategod"

They did sorta invent the wheel when it comes to Southern sludge. Iron Monkey comes close but it's still a copy.

one of the only albums post-EHG that has hit a lot of the same buttons for me:

and that's, you know, ONE album i can think of in how many years?

but i think it holds its own with any great EHG album as an invigorating listening experience. more people should hear it.

This is what you offer me
A system of dishonesty
Where life is measured monetarily
And I'm just another face

Another man with the simple skills
Of staying alive and paying the bills
I'll never amount to anything
Live and die where I've always been

Mike's vocals are indeed kinda lame so far, but the first two songs were very meander-y....where I didn't feel like I could get a feel for what they were going for.

oh wow, this is out. listening now.

billstevejim, Friday, 12 March 2021 05:25 (five years ago)

I liked the last few songs. it's definitely looser and less structured than the s/t was.

one year passes...

^I completely forgot about this. the album made zero impression on me.

might be due a relisten, but Dopesick is on now and nothing's unseating that.
