Would love to know what they're like, live. "Mattachine" is a very direct descendent of the Magnetic Fields, but it's also very good. They call themselves "sissypop" - not sure that's a smart move on their part.

Well, you start with a niche -- also, the singer-guitarist(-songwriter, I'm assuming) is rrrreally cute.

Obv since they make many of the same sounds as early MagFields, the comparison is inevitable (the lyrics are oft amusing but clearly nowhere as clever). Encouraging, but I'd like to hear more.

Also, I love the way the album is so cheaply packaged: just a folded over envelope, using the bendy-metal-clip things to keep the CD in place.

I love this record, the first four tracks especially are wonderful but it's solid all through. Especially on 'The Face Of Everything' where the drum-machine/violin break comes in.
