why did i purchase this today? apart from wanting to be a completist, what with already owning the dvd and pocket sized screenplay and all.

the only worthwhile thing is 'coconut' which i have on a harry nilsson compo already.

Well, I'm sure it's of use to Steven Wright superfans.

Little Green Bag was savaged on the soundtrack: Choppily edited and sped up about 10bpm.

Helloooooooo. Stealers Wheel, what a great band.

Hatch (Hatch), Thursday, 14 September 2006 15:54 (nineteen years ago)

At least unlike the Pulp Fiction soundtrack, the audio snippets from the film were self-contained on the RD st. On the Pulp Fiction st, you couldn't listen to Miserlou, for example, without first having to listen to the hold-up dialogue. Or the Chuck Berry song they dance to without hearing Mia and Vince's conversation first. Terrible idea. I later just made my own comp.

Is there really a better version of Little Green Bag out there? That was the main reason I bought the Reservoir Dogs soundtrack in the first place.

musically (musically), Thursday, 14 September 2006 17:11 (nineteen years ago)

the reservoir dogs soundtrack has some really dire shit on it beyond 3 or 4 tunes.

gear (gear), Thursday, 14 September 2006 17:13 (nineteen years ago)

Remember how Pulp Fiction and Resevoir Dogs were pretty interesting back then and now, sure, they may be fun to watch for a few minutes, but they sure aren't Little Miss Sunshine? Remember that?

IPSISSIMUS (Uri Frendimein), Thursday, 14 September 2006 17:37 (nineteen years ago)

It almost seems like you thought it was 1992 or maybe 1993.

I'd say it's almost worth it for the Joe Tex song.

edde (edde), Monday, 18 September 2006 20:34 (nineteen years ago)

to clarify the 'welcome to 1992/1993' mini-debate -- the film premiered at sundance in '92; it opened in the US (or at least NY and LA) that autumn, and in the UK in 1993. to me it's a '1993' film just from growing up in the UK.

EARLY-90S MAN (Enrique), Monday, 18 September 2006 20:45 (nineteen years ago)

piscesx, Sunday, 18 September 2011 02:27 (fourteen years ago)

Always thought it was a reference to the Green Bay Packers of the NFL. "Time out, Green Bay" would be uttered by the referee indicating a stoppage in play in a football game.

How have we never polled this album?

I was today years old when I realized that the version of “Stuck in the Middle with You” is speeded up like crazy. Why the hell’d they do that? I’ve been listening to the wrong version all my life!! Are all the songs on the soundtrack like this?

Mr. Snrub, Friday, 15 January 2021 15:40 (five years ago)

4th post itt claims little green bag is sped up too. Sloppy mastering?

nobody like my rap (One Eye Open), Friday, 15 January 2021 16:48 (five years ago)

I can't hear any difference in speed in either of those songs, but maybe every source I find has been retroactively switched to the Reservoir Dogs versions.

peace, man, Friday, 15 January 2021 17:57 (five years ago)

1972 album version on Spotify is 3:28 but ends five seconds early. Reservoir Dogs sndtk version on Spotify is 3:23. Unless, as peace man says, the version was retroactively switched.

piscesx, Saturday, 16 January 2021 19:56 (five years ago)

Tell you what though, Spotify will quite often use a previously loaded track, so it's possible that the RD version populates other albums that contain the same track.

Mark G, Saturday, 16 January 2021 20:44 (five years ago)

Soundtrack versions of songs are quite often slightly faster and louder aren't they? Like tv commercials. Or sumthin.
