Billboard and Nielson Soundscan only show the top 100 albums, and no longer provides sales information. I think it's super lame that only
people willing to pay $240 a year can access that very basic information.
Does anyone have access that information? I thought it would be interesting to see the sales figures next week for the batch of albums that came out on Tuesday:
Basement Jaxx - Crazy Itch Radio
The Black Keys - Magic Potion
Brazilian Girls - Talk To La Bomb
DJ Shadow - The Outsider
Junior Boys - So This Is Goodbye
Los Lobos - The Town And The City
Magnolia Electric Co. - Fading Trails
The Mars Volta - Amputechture
Mastodon - Blood Mountain
Mouse On Mars - Varcharz
The Rapture - Pieces Of The People We Love
Justin Timberlake - FutureSex/LoveSounds
TV On The Radio - Return To Cookie
Xiu Xiu - The Air Force
Yo La Tengo - I Am Not Afraid Of You And I Will Beat Your Ass

Awesome! If it's for real, that is. They put out stats daily? Surprising to see Junior Boys so high, and TVOTR too, though it's good news. I thought it wouldn't be availble until the full week is over, on Monday or Tuesday. Do we have a mole at SoundScan? :)

Surprising to see Junior Boys so highI'm not conviced that Dan's figures are real, but JBs did get a 9.0 on Pitchfork. Which is why I'm buying advance tickets to their show next month instead of risking it at the door.

You suck. Dagnabbit, one of you journos ought to have access. Screw SoundScan and their monopoly on info, give it up! It's all cuz they want to keep complaining about the so-called decline in music sales...

That's the good stuff I wanted, thanks. So does each week cover Tue through Monday? I have to wonder about the accuracy, considering we can't even count Presidential ballots, but I'll take what I can get.

four years pass...
Bumping this thread. Would still love to see figures for Top 200 sellers for 2010, or other years. I'm sure many would find that interesting. One can dream. I won't give up! If someone has the info but doesn't want to get in twouble, PM.
