Black Cat - Brian Auger and the Trinity.

Never fails to get me up and dancing round the room like a drug crazed prat.

I'll Keep You Happy by Ike and Tina Turner does pretty much the same thing.

this thread is such a relief after all the weird vibes in the Women's Studies thread & the Everybody Hates Louis Jagger thread.

Front 242 - "Headhunter"

(it's the cowbell)

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Wednesday, 4 October 2006 21:35 (nineteen years ago)

Industrial cowbell: a much-missed musical ornament.

Old standards from my club-kid period:

"Rock Lobster" (of course)
"He's On The Phone" (or "Stormtrooper in Drag") - Saint Etienne
"Real Summer" - Future Bible Heroes
"There's More To Life Than This" - Bjork
"Justified and Ancient" - KLF with Tammy Wynette
"Next is the E (Long Arms Mix)" - Moby
"Don't Say Your Love Is Killing Me" (or "Rain") - Erasure
"Born Slippy" - Underworld
"Debaser" - Pixies
"Fashion" - David Bowie
"Controversy" - Prince
"Suedehead" - Morrissey
"Editions of You" - Roxy Music
"Peek-A-Boo" - Siouxsie and the Banshees
"Around the World" - Daft Punk

Songs I would have killed to hear in an actual nightclub:

"Mandinka" - Sinead O'Connor
"Ana Ng" - They Might Be Giants
"Soon (Andrew Weatherall Mix)" - My Bloody Valentine
"The Rough & The Quick" - Red Snapper
"Polygon Window" - Polygon Window
"Lent (Isolee Remix)" - Autour de Lucie
"Juke Joint Jezebel" - KMFDM
"Close-Up" - Art of Noise
"Power to the Amplifier" - Trenchmouth
"Split" - Kleenex/LiLiPUT
"Richard III" - Supergrass
"Professional Distortion" - Miss Kittin
"Archangels" - The Wild Swans
"Your Favorite Thing" - Sugar
"San Francisco" - 808 State
"I Bet It Stung" - Tegan and Sara
"Staring at the Sun" - Ultra Vivid Scene

i'm listening to 'why can't i be you?' right now, and i figure it should have me bopping around like i can't stop, but these vocals are hideously annoying.

Beyonce "Countdown"

sonic thedgehod (albvivertine), Sunday, 5 April 2015 11:08 (ten years ago)

"I Want You Back" at the Irish bar last night... being wedged between Steve Earle and Freebird certainly helped. Don't think the 50-something fellas were too impressed but the gals behind the bar are what matters.

christ, sorry for the thread title, guys.

otherwise, i guess my selections from almost a decade ago still stand. though it should be noted, i don't dance to music as much as i once did.

charlie h, Monday, 6 April 2015 06:58 (ten years ago)

as mentioned in the Mountain Goats thread recently, "Choked Out" off the new album turns me into a human wrecking-/pinball

but the most recent occurrence of this phenomenon, which was like 15 minutes ago, was when I unearthed my copy of Microcastle (finally, after years of looking!), put on "Nothing Ever Happened", & proceeded to swagger around the room, hips-first, like some sort of one-legged Elvis on crutches
