Thousands of bands that never made it.

(Just out of curiosity - am I this thread's "track 3"? or is it rather "track4"?)

Cream come soooo close to getting this one for "N.S.U.":

Driving in my car, smoking my cigar,
The only time i'm happy's when i play my guitar.

Singing in my yacht, what a lot i got,
Happiness is something that just cannot be bought.

But it's track 2, unfortunately.

A Silver Mt. Zion, "I can't remember the name of the first track on that boring-ass first album of theirs"

NoTimeBeforeTime (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 22:57 (nineteen years ago)

I haven't heard the album in ages, but every track on the first MBV record is tied for the worst thing they ever did, so, uh, that.

NoTimeBeforeTime (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 22:59 (nineteen years ago)

hmm, i think galaxie 500 probably works for this. "flowers" is my least favourite song of theirs by far.

Wasn't the general theory that track one off "Echoes" The Rapture was something to be endured before you got to the good stuff? (I know, but mini-albums don't count...)

i can't think of anything

Charlie Howard (the sphinx), Thursday, 5 October 2006 10:55 (nineteen years ago)

and 'olio' by the rapture is surely a better tune that the one that commences "love is all my crippled heart will ever need". that song has to be the lowlight of the otherwise solid record

Charlie Howard (the sphinx), Thursday, 5 October 2006 14:49 (nineteen years ago)

or was it "crippled soul"? can never quite remember. lame guitar riff the whole songs based around

Charlie Howard (the sphinx), Thursday, 5 October 2006 14:51 (nineteen years ago)

engine engine number nine, on the new york transit line

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Thursday, 5 October 2006 15:22 (nineteen years ago)

The Rolling Stones' version of "Not Fade Away" is down there IMO, but it's not the worst.

A Silver Mt. Zion, "I can't remember the name of the first track on that boring-ass first album of theirs"

IIRC; Something to do with numerous angels standing guard round the foot of your bed.

It's actaually my favourite track/only track I can remember of theirs.

I think it was also the point when I realised that although I'd enjoyed the time spent with Constellation Records, there wasn't enough in it to sustain a long-term relationship, and so I had to say my goodbyes. Good luck in the future and all that...

It's not their first album, but I've never liked that first song of The Shins "Chutes Too Narrow".

I really like the album, but when he hits that high note part in the chorus, it's ALWAYS pissed me off

Cocteau Twins - Blood Bitch

You are quite obviously insane

Si.C@rter (SiC@rter), Friday, 6 October 2006 00:11 (nineteen years ago)

Moody Blues. First album started with "Go Now", no? They never got worse.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Friday, 6 October 2006 00:31 (nineteen years ago)

"Dear Diary" was FAR, FAR worse.

Joseph McCombs (Joseph McCombs), Friday, 6 October 2006 03:27 (nineteen years ago)

I think a lot of pavement albums start off with really bad songs. But depending on who you ask, they're all shit anyway.
