We've had a thread on songs listing things in general, we've had a pretty short one on songs about some day of the week... time for one listing all days of the week. Well OK, Saturday and Sunday are optional. To start with:

The Cure: "Friday I'm in Love"
The Wannadies: "Hit"
Craig David: "7 Days"

More!

there was that bluetones one (the worst single of the 90s i believe)

- "Police on My Back" by the Clash ("I been runnin' Monday - Tuesday - Wednesday, etc. etc. ad nauseum). Yes, Clash-o-philes, I'm aware they didn't write this (Eddie "Romancing the Stone"/"Electric Avenue" Grant did), but `twas they that brought said tune to notoriety.

- "I don't Like Mondays" by the Boomtown Rats

- "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" by Elton John

- "Monday, Monday" by the Mammas & the Pappas

"Tuesday's Gone" by Lynard Skynard (I think)

Alex in NYC, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"When I Burn this Place Down" by Firewater -

"Friday was the crucifixion, Saturday cremation under glass. The resurrection was on Sunday, no correction -- make it Monday, `cos Monday's when they come to take the trash!"

Alex in NYC, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Saturday Night Sunday Morning" by the Specials

Alex in NYC, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Saturday Love" - Cherelle & Alexander O'Neal

"Never on a Sunday"

Alex - most (all?) of those songs don't use all? the days of the week like OleM asked.

Probably my fault -- missed a couple of words in the question: Should be "time for one (i.e. a list)of songs listing all days of the week."

OleM, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Eeegad! You're right. I misread, I'm sorry. Well, "Police on My Back" certainly lists every day of the week.

"Seven Day Weekend" by Elvis Costello & Jimmy Cliff.

Alex in NYC, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Monday morning feels so bad
Everybody seems to nag me
Come on Tuesday I feel better
Even my old man looks good
Wednesday just won't go
Thursday goes too slow
I've got Friday on my mind Easybeats "Friday on My Mind", only works if weekend is optional.

Alex in SF, Tuesday, 2 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Which it is, 'cause otherwise I couldn't fit The Wannadies in there. :-)

Tuesday! Tuesday! Tuesday!
Wednesday: gave up hope and
Thursday: realized
she didn't mean it when she said...
I think this was one of Doug Martsch's first songs with Treepeople?

seventeen years pass...

Revive, because they played "Saturday Love" at the roller rink last night. And to add Kacey Musgraves' "Lonely Weekend" to the list.

geoffreyess, Saturday, 22 June 2019 15:02 (five years ago)

What's with the italics? Is "Saturday Love" just that powerful?

Velvet Underground - Coney Island Steeplechase

Hideous Lump, Saturday, 22 June 2019 20:15 (five years ago)

See how they run…

John Prine - "Quiet Man"

Last Monday night I saw a fight
Between Wednesday and Thursday over Saturday night
Tuesday asked me what was going on, I said,
"Sunday's in the meadow and Friday's in the corn."

Related – and actually preceding it, this 1977 hit from Dutch Rhythm Steel And Show Band, “January, February”:

They even took the song to the UK charts later that year, albeit under a different moniker: "The Calendar Song" by Trinidad Oil Company. And then in 1979 it was covered by Boney M on their Oceans of Fantasy album, as, have a guess, “Calendar Song (January, February)”.

(“Ma-di-wo-do” happens to be a jam as well btw, especially in italics!)
