Albums you forgot you bought

Ever just forgot that you owned an album? I'm just finally going through my CD collection for the first time since getting back to the United States, and was sort of astonished to see Brian Eno's "Before and After Science" in there. I don't recollect ever buying this, and I don't remember anyone giving it to me. I was even thinking the other day, "I should really find Before and After Science and Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy", since I've never heard either of them.

I can't think of anything that's caught me by surprise, but I know I've absent-mindedly bought a few things twice.

ha! one of my friends tends to forget which cd's he's got from me as presents and then sometimes, apologetically, offers them "back" ("hey, was this one of yours? sorry i've kept it for so long! here...")

Method Man / Redman - Blackout

I bought it when it first came out, sold it, then the other day I found I had a copy of it that I don't remember the origin of.

Good party album though

I have Incapacitants' Ministry of Foolishness. It's in just a cardboard slip-case thing, so it's extremely thin and always stuck in between two CDs. It's always a nice surprise to see it again.

At one point I had three seperate record "caches", on in London, one in SF (that I used to add to when I was back getting my passport stamped but didn't ever look at) and one in Chicago.

When I finally got them all together I found I had 5 copies of the Pop Group's "She's Beyond Good And Evil" (3 on 7" and 2 on 12")

Now where's the threadd about records that you own multiple copies of 'cause they are THAT GOOD and you are worried about trying to replace them if something goes horribly wrong?

Ah yes, the Escalator Over The Hill syndrome (my perspective)...

I know someone who has like two dozen copies of World Domination Enterprises' Let's Play Domination. Fantastic album, but that seems a bit excessive...

One of Lester Bangs' obituaries stated that he owned 53 (I think) copies of "Raw Power."

"Classic" jazz albums, the type tat are generally about £5 in chain record shop sales. I've almost bought Big Swing Face about five times.
