This is probably my favourite cut at the moment (altho' a week on and I haven't actually got past #11 yet, there's so much to enjoy in the first half of the LP). Reasons: possibly this idea of forever turning up late and "missing the boat of life" strikes a chord, I dunno. Proof anyway that you don't need to sound introspective or be a guitarist to produce a meaningful relationship song.

Interesting you like it so much, Jeff - so far it strikes me as a (relative) weak link, but I'm not entirely sure why, probably because I was ill yesterday and didn't have any sleep. "Don't Mug Yourself" seems a more meaningful - and original! - relationship song to me. How nasty of me.

It's the only track I've ever skipped so far, for whatever that's worth. Its theme of regret reminds me of "Song Cry," although the loyalty issues aren't as cut-and-dry (they seem more implied in the Streets song -- and, of course, Jigga leads into "SC" with a loyalty-to-the-game track.

I was completely wrong. It's brilliant.

"We came together through a shared point of view: she loved me and I did too."

The vamp in this song is just so amazingly perfect. The importance of Skinner using garage is maybe how brilliantly/ consummately/*ultimately* he transforms rave tricks into hip hop tricks.
