Among hardcore Pet Sounds aficionados, I'd say "Caroline No" is the most celebrated, but I definitely wouldn't say it's the most famous.

Not even close -- "Fillmore Jive" hardly even tops "Gold Soundz", let alone "Cut Your Hair" or "Range Life". If anything, it's the most underrated track on that album.

I agree that those three are better known now but I remember Fillmore getting a lot of the press when it came out...

This is bollocks. They are not the same thing, but they are certainly not mutually exclusive. Are you saying nothing has ever been both a critical and popular success?

I agree it's a great song, possibly the best on the entire album. But "Heart Shaped Box" was still a bigger hit.
― Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Monday, 9 October 2006 20:27 (nineteen years ago)
I know how "All Apologies" goes, and I don't remember how "Heart-Shaped Box" goes. like, at all.
(this could just be a case of knowing the song but not the name... but do you really want to risk it?)

"How Dare You" is the best track on "How Dare You", but it would be pressing it a bit to claim it is more famous than "I'm Mandy Fly Me" and "Art For Art's Sake".
