The real challenge would be posting that vs. the album covers of what your parents owned when you were born.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 October 2006 14:09 (nineteen years ago)

The winner is... Curtis Mayfield!

I think some of those are reisssues.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Tuesday, 10 October 2006 14:09 (nineteen years ago)

1963

I have (for example)

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000000Y5F.01.MZZZZZZZ.jpg

and

http://www.gutsofdarkness.com/pochettes/2056_4844.jpg

and

http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B0000080KG.03.MZZZZZZZ.jpg

In terms of what my parents had (i.e. Ned's question), I think Evolution would have had them (or at least my mother) scratching their heads, despite the presence of McLean and Morgan; Mingus Mingus Mingus … and Ugetsu would have been better received. All the 1963-ish LPs of theirs that I can remember — stuff like Shirley Scott, Hank Crawford, Cannonball, Nancy Wilson, Miles, Mongo Santamaria — are either from '61/62 or '64/65. So I have no images to post.

My parents certainly have never heard of , nevermind heard or owned any of those records from when the year I was born.

It's the lazy and immoral way to become super hip. (Austin, Still), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 11:07 (nineteen years ago)

Wheres Geir?

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy (Kerr), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 12:04 (nineteen years ago)

No need posting them here, when there are a lot of them at this site:
http://rateyourmusic.com/list/GeirH/my_top_50_albums_of_1970

Not a really good vintage btw. The first 15-20 albums in the list are great, but it takes considerably less getting into the Top 50 than in most other years.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 12:29 (nineteen years ago)

The 1st 2 Funkadelic albums came out in 1970 along with 1st Tangerine Dream, Beach Boys - Sunflower, Neil Young - After The Goldrush, Curtis Mayfield - Curtis, Isaac Hayes - Isaac Hayes Movement, Miles Davis - Tribute To Jack Johnson, The Stooges - Funhouse, Led Zeppelin III, Van der Graaf Generator - H to He, Who Am the Only One, 1st Black Sabbath.
What a year!

This would have been me mum's choice. I thought for decades she was irish 'cause she told me so and we had a bird named O'Brian and a cat called Seamus, then one day out of the blue it dawned on me she was born in Okehampton, Devon. Never figured that one out.
This is '59 by the way. Jeesus I shouldn't be on this site!

tolstoy (tolstoy), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 13:42 (nineteen years ago)

I hope the Lex posts here too. Anyone know what age he is?

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy (Kerr), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 14:16 (nineteen years ago)

This would be good for concert posters, too, but perhaps more difficult.

It's the lazy and immoral way to become super hip. (Austin, Still), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 14:30 (nineteen years ago)

I'll try it, though

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy (Kerr), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 20:23 (nineteen years ago)

so far, and with a few exceptions, 1982 sucked bad. 1982 Representin!

xpost

That Elvis Presley album is posthumous, no? London Calling came out at least two years after Elvis died, and the design is far to distinctive to be a coincidence.

King-a-Ling (King-a-Ling), Wednesday, 11 October 2006 22:12 (nineteen years ago)

Elvis was first. The Clash were second. Then came, uh...
