i only have, like, fifty records i care enough about to ever travel with (oh yeah, that's what it would be for, not actually djing although if it holds my laptop, too, then great).

HMV used to sell these aluminium record boxes for 20 quid. I've had mine for 7 years and it's still solid.

Who the cramps are those people above?

Is MisShapes that big NY happening thing, where everyone looks like the DJs and everyone's an artist of some sort? I think I saw a bit in a magazine about that.

I always get a wheeled bag from Rock & Soul in NYC for about $50. Expandable handle, holds a shitload, but I'm sure it wouldn't go well on a plane if that's what you mean by travel.

Anyway, I can't highly stress enough that if you're going to kick down enough money for a sturdy case for vinyl, just spend the extra money to make it wheelable. Your back and your life will thank you for it.

Granted, if you ever fly with that case, be prepared to be treated like a terrorist, especially all your beardo discos. Life was fun in airports for me earlier this year when I was buying and wheeling aussie and kiwi vinyl. The record store stickers made it more fun.

these are awesome, very functional, durable, comfortable to carry, lots of pockets...

something less threatening (heywood), Friday, 13 October 2006 06:51 (nineteen years ago)

My Ultimate DJ Gear bag broke....no wheels no more none. I am still waiting for it to be replaced. Take from that what you will...

Definitely get wheels though, I mean just......make sure. It's infinitely easier.

As regards customs, it's funny that dot mentions that, when I was going to NY earlier this year, on the way home I was going through the security check, and as my record bag passed through the scanner, one of the two security people came up me and she said "Excuse me sir, is your bag the one with the turkey in it?"

"erm....no.....it's records, not a turkey"

So she looked back at the other security guy who must have been more senior and said "didn't you say, this one had....a turkey in it?"

And he walked over all babbling, "I eh.....I said.......I said that.....that one IS a turkey, I meant for you to check it.....*looks at me*, I eh.....I'm sorry sir I'm not implying...I'm not allowed to infer that.....I....a turkey is a phrase we use to mean....it's just eh...."

Two dumb security guards...
