.. for a fiver.

Well, what would you do?

(sold out now, unfortunately)

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 3 November 2006 12:17 (nineteen years ago)

Did it qualify for the chart?

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Friday, 3 November 2006 12:25 (nineteen years ago)

jesus, what is it, 48 kbps?

lookin' in my mirror, not a Jagger in sight (sixteen sergeants), Friday, 3 November 2006 12:26 (nineteen years ago)

I would slap them, collectively, with a frozen pike.

WHERE DO I QUEUE?

benrique (Enrique), Friday, 3 November 2006 12:27 (nineteen years ago)

http://www.theofficialcharts.com/

You can view a PDF of chart rules from there. It can't qualify, and was limited to 1,500 anyway.

Keane are massive and their music sounds shite even on CD anyway, so if you like them you don't fucking care what it sounds like, and cos it's got "Keane" written on it and people love that shit.

As for this being a bona fide future format, well... Solid-state memory is cheap these days but cheaper than a CD? Also, either they make it just big enough to hold a song, and locked so you can't delete the song and use as a normal USB stick, or they make it bigger and usable as a straight USB key afterwards, in which case the entire fucking thing is a free gift in itself and therefore chart-ineligible.

If Keane gave half an ounce of a worm-ridden shit about their product they'd be absolutely fucking apalled.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Friday, 3 November 2006 12:27 (nineteen years ago)

I knew there would be a long Southall diatribe in this thread before I even clicked it.

wordy rappaport (EstieButtez1), Friday, 3 November 2006 12:29 (nineteen years ago)

That's hardly long. Also I just C&P'd it from a conversation I had with someone about this weeks ago. ILM's way behind here!

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Friday, 3 November 2006 12:30 (nineteen years ago)

Well, long for me.

In any case, I can't believe there really is a market for USB sticks with "Keane" emblazoned upon them. It's like wearing a t-shirt with the slogan "I Rape Children" printed on it.

wordy rappaport (EstieButtez1), Friday, 3 November 2006 12:31 (nineteen years ago)

I like 'Is It Any Wonder?' now :/

banrique (blueski), Friday, 3 November 2006 12:39 (nineteen years ago)

it is a 512mb not a 512k usb-stick...

(jg) ((jg)), Friday, 3 November 2006 13:13 (nineteen years ago)

oops my typo.

OK so a 512mb stick for a fiver would (have) be(en) nice. Only I forgot about it and didn't order one.

Though making it a non-deletable file/system would have been beyond the pale.

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 3 November 2006 13:29 (nineteen years ago)

Actually, I'm surprised that no one's done this already...

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Friday, 3 November 2006 14:43 (nineteen years ago)

Labels have been sending album promos on USB stick for a while. Makes the more traceable.

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Friday, 3 November 2006 14:47 (nineteen years ago)

Say, that's keen!

Scorpion Tea (Dick Butkus), Friday, 3 November 2006 14:49 (nineteen years ago)

You know where they can stick it.

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy (Kerr), Friday, 3 November 2006 17:24 (nineteen years ago)

four months pass...
And now the Fratellis have done a similar exercise with their new single. £3.99

I don't know the memory capacity though.

Mark G, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 11:28 (eighteen years ago)

You still know where they can stick it.

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 11:36 (eighteen years ago)

classic - will just hasten the obsolesence of this music

Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 11:44 (eighteen years ago)

The new Fratellis memory stick, hurtling all the way to number 24 on our hot pop charts.

Marcello Carlin, Tuesday, 20 March 2007 11:45 (eighteen years ago)

They don't contribute to the charts, but look, someone on ILM started a thread about the new Keane single.
