I like their music, and their conviction.

What they're convicted to.... Well, I'm not more than 10% Irish and I've never been. I knoew I'd have never joined the IRA.

my wife saw them play at a midtown pub a few years ago (dragged by a friend, she had no idea what to expect) and said it was a good show but also a little alarming in its political fervor.

(the band and the crowd)

I think it's my ears and my Liver.

Oh, and I knew the croud and band would both be riled.

Only in the USA is their political nature largely ignored(or rather Americans are ignorant of the nature).
Though I suppose if they were to play in St Paul in the right place, they might get a decent number of old Irshmen, or their sons.

Or people who think they're Irish, or like to imagine they are

HAHAHA yeah.

I mean, I'd go, but I'd just drink and listen.

The Irish Skrewdriver

I saw them last year while in Galway. I guess they attract a loyal following; there were multiple generations in the audience, and it seemed like everybody there knew the words to every song played.

My reaction, as an American outsider, was much like gypsymothra's wife...I don't know if I'd say "alarming," but it was definitely on the more politically intense side of the entertainment spectrum.
