he died today, you know...and sure, he's mostly (like, maybe 99%) known for his acting, he also released a great album in the late 60's, a country & western affair with more than a passing nod to Lee Hazlewood, Bobby Bare and other lonesome losers who could scrape gold from the bottom of the social barrel...so, one final salute to the self-proclaimed meanest man in the world!

AMG review (not mine!)

the review and the rating do not seem to jibe...

"Novelty" and "fun" and "entertaining" are the key words. It ain't a great album. What a fascinating guy though. He was so excellent in Contempt.

anything that embodies those three words automatically deserves four stars, in my book...RIP...(have to guiltily admit that I thought he was dead already, though)...

Here I thought we were going to talk about the great calypso song.

RIP Jack.

Just like a friend of mine once said, his face looked like a saddle.
What a great actor.

The guy has been looking like he's on his way out for about 20 years. It's kind of surreal to actually see him go.

"the review and the rating do not seem to jibe..."

I've noticed this with several AMG reviews.
