Inspired by that excellent thread about "Nothing But A Heartache" by the Flirtations. Go mad and tell us what one track is rocking your world right now - it can be old or new.

Until Fox make a show of similar name Rock Plaza Central has a myspace page with a song on it called "My Children Be Joyful". Pitchfork wrote a glowing (but still horribly written) review giving him 8.4 which without a doubt is the highest review given to someone from Sackville. Exclaim, despite dragging out the John Darnielle comparison for the umpteenth time call it "a stunning and unexpected gem "

I was going to try to explain why a little later, in words other than "wahey it's brill" that were actually factual in some way but out of spite I won't now.

That song's made my year anyhow.

brr (fandango), Thursday, 16 November 2006 16:22 (nineteen years ago)

ANY year I might have heard it in.

Passage - Love Song off New Love Songs 7"

Why? Amazing lyrics that are funny as hell while not being obnoxious or of the kind that would place this song in the "comedy" genre. Its also quite refreshing to hear lyrics that aren't cliched as hell. Clocking in at 1:43 this song is reminiscent of Wire in the sense that you want more but if it was longer it'd lose some of its appeal (also the singer sounds a lot like the dude from wire). This is my new favorite love song.

examples:
i love you cause my sister would
i love you like a brother should
i love you lying in my bed
your skin on the wet stain that i made
i love you cause you burn my tea
but most of all because
you look like me

and

you're not a human being dear
you're my private comedian
to show i'm not queer

This single is up on this blog, posted on October 1: http://www.wiels.nl/blog/index.php?m=10&y=06&entry=entry061006-213554

hope you enjoy it as much as i do!
