Haircut Electro (finally)

I just wanted to post somewhere that Simian Mobile Disco's 'Tits & Acid' is great and probably better than 'Hustler' but realised it wouldn't really fit on existing thread (not housey enough to be Haircut house - S/D and if 'Doppelwhipper' counts as Electro(house) more than this then I don't even know who I am anymore) unless I'm missing something so am creating a new one to record the 'progress' of this 'exciting' 'development' in 'dance music' as it trundles along forwards/backwards/sideways/onthespotinacircle.

Any arguments that can be had over this sort of thing have probably already happened on MSTRKRFT - The Looks but I think the SMD track is different enough from Justice and Digitalism stuff again...

Really I just wanted recommendations for stuff that would go well with 'Tits & Acid' (other recent stuff that would fit with it in a mix i guess - 303 use not even THAT essential tho i dunno how much current dancey 303 electro is doing the rounds as it is).

Stonking track.

I suppose anything at 130.000 bpm would do the trick.

The second half of the track is a little too noisy and frantic to mix. If I was serious, making a more 'user friendly' outtro would be fun.

Need something simple and 130 bpm, like Alter Ego - Rocker or Run DMC - It's like that.

undoubtedly ('do your own homework' is a weird thing to say on a msg board heavily populated by 'tell me of other tracks in the style of this one' since it began). thanks for reminding me i only know one track on Relief Records you cold-hearted scoundrel.

i thought that "hands up for detroit" track was haircut electro. what's up with that track - did it really go to #1 on the UK charts? how/why??

I actually quite like a lot of Simian Mobile Disco but Tits and Acid is truly awful. I don't get how it sounds like relief records though - no big drums!

haircut electro. the perfect name for the "genre". sums up the irony and sense of humour.

i wouldn't go so far as to say there's much irony in haircut electro, thems the fans with the haircuts.. beardo disco, hair metal, glam rock.. same thing

haircut electro circa 2007 - the gossip -standin' in the way of control (playgroup remix).. btw what is going on with the beat in this song? did they invent a minigenre accidently? the vocal remix is awful, the dub is blissed out.. what gives

7seasjim, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 05:07 (nineteen years ago)

It's a good day for haircut electro for me at least. Apparently I won the runner up prize in that Resident Advisor competetion and won Turbo Records' 6 latest releases and a t-shirt. Funny thing is, I don't even like Turbo; the only reason I entered the competition was that I had a strong hunch I'd win (what more, an even stronger hunch that's I'd win the runner up prize (!!!)

ten months pass...

Is this where we can talk about Buy Now - "Body Crash". Will it live up to the hype? I played a rip of it out on Saturday and people cheered the bleepy bit.
