I have been seeing the video a lot lately on VH1 Classic. I don't remember this song at all from back in the day. I downloaded it last night and I think its great.

What's the deal with some of the videos played on VH1 Classic? I watched a lot of MTV in the early '80s and I swear they've made some of those videos up.

"Strip" the song is classic. Strip the album isn't. Adam Ant, overall, is classic.

Yeah I watched a lot of MTV then as well and half these videos I've never seen. I do notice that most of them are live concert footage half the time.

I keep wishing I had VH1 Classic! My sister keeps taunting me with stories of watching Adam Ant and Gary Numan etc., while I'm just stuck with plain old MTV.

I would kill to see the Prince Charming video again, I would.

As Andy sed, the single is brilliant whilst the album is definitely not so brilliant.

Gotta love the hair on the woman he smooches in "Desperate But Not Serious"! She didn't strike me as Adam's type. Kinda Tawny Kitaen-ish (sp?), if I recall correctly.

I saw the video back in the day for sure. It's one of the albums I didn't get, though. It seemed he had gone completely silly and absurd. Although I do like those qualities in his idol Marc Bolan, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. And I never thought he was good-looking, so seeing him pass himself off as a sex symbol always baffled me.

Okay, I desperately need to see some Adam and the Ants videos. The only ones I remember seeing are "Strip" and "Stand And Deliver", none of which feature dancing cows. There was a hilarious recent AbFab that had Edina and Patsy falling around a playground to "Prince Charming" that has become a de facto video for that song in my mind.

I love VH-1 Classic!! I can vouch that a good 80-90% of 'em I remember as being played on MTV at one point or another (or they are taken from pre-MTV footage). They really drag out the obscure nuggets with that one.

I can't say this track is a classic, but it's no dud either. It's delightful, and there aren't that many things I can say that about in this world.

The drive is gone, the edge is gone, it's insubstantial, but it's also dippy and cute and the poor bastards couldn't be revolutionaries forever.
