There used to be a thread on this board about Boots For Dancing, damnit

Where is it now?

One of my two most loved, most unknown post-punk bands (the others being Ski Patrol and Dangerous Girls). Boots For Dancing featured members of Josef K if I recall correctly. Peel had them in for at least one session. I've got a vinyl 12" from 1980 that has an A-side called "Boots For Dancing" that sounds nearly exactly like good old fashioned early Gang of Four! I've got a whole CD of them that I just pulled out on a whim and Peel's voice is at the beginnings/ends of some of the tracks, just to put icing on the cake.

So that thread is lost in cyberspace then...? I don't give a crap. Lock me up administrators. Lock my thread, so be it. I'll see your ass in the cowboy ghost town with 50 boxes of vinyl at my disposal and you'll weep. You will weep.

If you hear Peel's voice every now and then, between the tracks, you know you are in good hands.

No Josef K members, but Jo Callis went on to massive success with "Dare!" era Human League.

with a stop before that releasing a solo single on Pop Aural.

Far as I know, Boots For Dancing had 2 singles on Pop Aural,
Boots for Dancing/Parachute/Guitars and Girl Trouble,
and The Rain Song/Hesitate. One or both of these also came out as 12"s.

....as well as a single on the Repop-X label with Ooh Bob Sh'Bam and Money (is thin on the ground) which I got as a kind gift from Kevin of What's Your Rupture records.

They cut 2 peel sessions and the first one features Hilary of Flowers on backing vocals.
