I've always liked but not loved Los Lobos. What a surprise their latest cd is! I can't get it out of the cd player. Bring the love here.

maybe their best ever. Road to Gila Bend is the obvious instant anthem, but I'm not sure it's even the best song on the album. I like The Town and Chuco's Cumbia myself.

"Chuco's Cumbia" shakes my white ass all night. Is this their best set of songs? I don't think so, but it's groovy and soulful all the same.

I actually liked this CD! I wrote earlier this year on another thread at how disappointed I was that they were moving away from being a roots-rock band and more like a jam band. They're STILL not back to their semi-rockabilly days of yore, but they're sounding more like the Latin Playboys (the experimental Lobos offshoot band). And that isn't a bad thing at all.
