"QUADRASTATE" EP REISSUE IN JUNE!!!!

less-than three's Christiane F. (drowned in milk), Thursday, 4 January 2007 01:22 (eighteen years ago)

Who will do better with Roxy Music's"The Thrill of it All"? Kaos, Tiefschwarz, or M.A.N.D.Y./Booka Shade?

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Thursday, 4 January 2007 14:28 (eighteen years ago)

The Paul Woolford remix of Claude VonStroke's "Who's Afraid of Detroit" sounds just about perfect to these ears.

And my vote for the Roxy Music actually goes to Kaos.

matt2 (matt2), Thursday, 4 January 2007 19:13 (eighteen years ago)

i've been listening to that doublepack nonstop for months now, and matt2 is OTM, Kaos wins. although the Angel Eyes re-edit is fucking amazing! it extends all the right bits, never gets boring and works the shit out of that groove.

something less threatening (heywood), Thursday, 4 January 2007 19:23 (eighteen years ago)

I know this is totally 06, anyone into the recent Extrawelt stuff?

Schmedding, Doch Doch, Drehfehler etc.

I seem to like this ex-trance producer thing a little much.

Harry Knuckles (Harry Knuckles), Saturday, 6 January 2007 08:53 (eighteen years ago)

revive!!

geeta (geeta), Tuesday, 16 January 2007 20:24 (eighteen years ago)

Loving Gui Boratto's album (out Feb/March), even when it goes soft and fluffy towards the end. Some great sounds on there.

braveclub (braveclub), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 15:00 (eighteen years ago)

anyone heard something from the Guy Gerber LP?

groovemaan (groove nihilist), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 15:40 (eighteen years ago)

xpost to h. knuckles: yes! have just ordered the schmedding/8000. that rolling, thumping, sad shit is right up my alley right now. well, always up my alley i guess.

andrew m. (andrewmorgan), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 16:39 (eighteen years ago)

This is strictly speaking a 2006 bobbin, and not entirely electrohouse (though there is plenty of that) but the Out One mixtape Vitamin House on Institubes is killing me now. It's electrohouse, filterdisco, some acid and ghetto stuff all pitched way up- tracklisting here. "Zdarlight" in particular is surprisingly awesome in this context. If anyone's interested I can start YSI'ing it tomorrow once I've had the chance to rip the CD.

Telephonething (Telephonething), Thursday, 18 January 2007 06:36 (eighteen years ago)

Is there a Guy Gerber LP? What label?

Good Dog (Good Dog), Thursday, 18 January 2007 09:21 (eighteen years ago)

the gui boratto album is awesome!

lex pretend (lex pretend), Thursday, 18 January 2007 09:25 (eighteen years ago)

hey, ryan, could you upload that Out One mix? Slsk doesn't work on my computer anymore for some reason.

firstworldman (firstworldman), Friday, 19 January 2007 00:21 (eighteen years ago)

it's all about the Ewan Pearson mix of Cortney Tidwell for me. Magic stuff.

Good Dog (Good Dog), Friday, 19 January 2007 04:06 (eighteen years ago)

That Cortney Tidwell mix is really quite special.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 19 January 2007 09:03 (eighteen years ago)

I can't figure out if I love that ananda/tobias thing or totally hate it. It's very, er, "propulsive" (overused techno word = yuk!)

Jacob (Jacob), Friday, 19 January 2007 14:39 (eighteen years ago)

Is Kompakt promo-ing the Gui album? Samples here, there, anywhere?

natedey (ndeyoung), Friday, 19 January 2007 23:37 (eighteen years ago)

Who will do better with Roxy Music's"The Thrill of it All"? Kaos, Tiefschwarz, or M.A.N.D.Y./Booka Shade?

MANDY/Booka Shade all the way, mostly because their track has the least amount of Brian Ferry on it. He hasn't got a voice that sits well with house music in the slightest. Actually, I really dislike his voice!

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 20 January 2007 18:46 (eighteen years ago)

It sounds okay moaning etherally in the background though.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Saturday, 20 January 2007 18:57 (eighteen years ago)

no more bobbins? sad panda :(

sovietpanda (sovietpanda), Monday, 29 January 2007 17:55 (eighteen years ago)

I don't think people like saying "electro-house" anymore

Dominique (dleone), Monday, 29 January 2007 18:19 (eighteen years ago)

ambrose (ambrose), Thursday, 1 February 2007 20:15 (eighteen years ago)

i dunno where to put this, but Noze's Remember Love is really nice. Kinda like the Clash meets house

Good Dog (Good Dog), Thursday, 1 February 2007 21:14 (eighteen years ago)

okay, that sounds crap. but 'Strings of Life' meets...something punky from the early eighties. The best thing on Traum in years!

Good Dog (Good Dog), Thursday, 1 February 2007 21:35 (eighteen years ago)

Dominique is right. Hipsterhouse bobbins? j/k j/k Seriously though... Electro-House didnt last long as a favorable term eh?

Justin Baum (prosume), Monday, 5 February 2007 19:10 (eighteen years ago)

unfortunately, "electro" seems to be filling that void.

i just got a promotional email from somebody advertising his own tracks, and the mail said something like "check these out if you like ELECTRO, ELECTRO is the sound of now!"

of course they had nothing to do with detroit techno/electro in any of its many reincarnations, nor even stock electro-house... just bad kistuné ripoffs. i don't mean to sound like a dickish purist for the original meanings of electro, but it is dispiriting the way "electro" seems to have been taken up as the term of choice by a generation of producers who have seemingly never listened to any kind of techno music.

philip sherburne (philip sherburne), Monday, 5 February 2007 19:49 (eighteen years ago)

because it doesn't have any electro???

xp

beat me to it

friday on the porch (lfam), Monday, 5 February 2007 19:49 (eighteen years ago)

yep just got this:

"Get out your best pants and gladrags, man the mainsail persons and cherubs alike. This will be a pissed up Saturday night electro party straddling your ears slap bang in the orange faced beating black heart of the Steel City’s town centre. Basically we got beef with S1...

Expect pagan disco antics as your hosts hook themselves up to the mains for an extreme electronic 4 way mangling. Computer soul, 8 bit gameboy, geriatric rave, electro, spunk funk, "

electro is somewhere between indie-rock-house a la justice n all that, and straight up 'mersh funky/high-st house (nee "electro-house") as far as i can tell

ambrose (ambrose), Monday, 5 February 2007 22:00 (eighteen years ago)

Computer soul, 8 bit gameboy, geriatric rave, electro, spunk funk, "

I always take these lists of vague and made-up genre names to mean that the djs are shit and will just play any old crap they have without any attempt at congruence.

jimn (jimnaseum), Monday, 5 February 2007 22:05 (eighteen years ago)

totally. especially those guys that claim to play "whorehouse," who are they again? (heh... j/k.)

philip sherburne (philip sherburne), Monday, 5 February 2007 22:17 (eighteen years ago)

Exception that proves the rule!

jimn (jimnaseum), Monday, 5 February 2007 22:26 (eighteen years ago)

i miss the days when 'electro' wasnt a made-up genre

PRKLTR (flezaffe), Monday, 5 February 2007 22:33 (eighteen years ago)

vague and made-up

jimn (jimnaseum), Monday, 5 February 2007 22:35 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, those 'whorehouse' guys are almost as bad as that dude who started pimping "microhouse" :-)

stirmonster (stirmonster), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 03:16 (eighteen years ago)

so does that mean we have to call it "neo-trance bobbins 2007" or something?

Jacob (Jacob), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 03:26 (eighteen years ago)

Why not just lump them all together and call it "Electronica Bobbins 2007"

Simply Steve! (née Christiane F.) (drowned in milk), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 20:21 (eighteen years ago)

doh!

philip sherburne (philip sherburne), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 20:22 (eighteen years ago)

Club Bobbins 2007

Good Dog (Good Dog), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 20:31 (eighteen years ago)

I wanna unify too. Maybe simply Bobbins 2007 or Dance Bobbins 2007 (redundant?)? Cause I don't know in which thread I'm supposed to get all excited about these supposedly "unsigned, just made, tracks" by Diskjokke (apparently with forthcoming releases on Full Pupp and Kindisch) over at 24 Hours. They are choice selections. I guess they are Norwegian "disco/funk" but all I know is you can dance to them and they deserve some sort of Bobbins attention.

matt2 (matt2), Tuesday, 6 February 2007 20:54 (eighteen years ago)

fandango, Wednesday, 11 July 2007 08:23 (seventeen years ago)

I love Fedde Le Grand vs Ida Corr's "Let Me Think About It"! If you're too good to listen to anything other than Kerri Chandler and 12 inches made in a caravan in Detroit then stay away, but it's great!

Tim F, Monday, 24 September 2007 12:02 (seventeen years ago)

Between this and Axwell's "I Found U", commercial dance radio is quite fun to listen to. Where's Vahid???

On the other hand I ended up really disliking Le Grand vs Camille Jones' "The Creeps".
