I saw that there's a thread about books on krautrock that focuses on english language books. can anyone recommend some german language ones? I found that amazon.de has cheap copies of cope's book and the amon düül book, _tanz der lemminge_. just ordered them, but I'm hoping to find a full overview book that is written by a german.

I think most krautrock is in german.

On the contrary, it's mostly in English

If you want a real primary, essential text -- look for Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser's "Rockzeit"... you should be able to find it as a used paperback.

are you sure that's the right name? a google search of it turns up nothing. there's also no entry for it in amazon.de, and they usually turn up even out of print books.

how is this making it more difficult for myself? I should think that a krautbook written from the german perspective would be less exoticizing and more on target.

never heard of that book either, but i found this:

so the full title is Rock-zeit. Stars, Geschäft und Geschichte der neuen Pop-Musik, to be accurate...

It's findable. A German friend got it last year. I don't know if amazon.de is has hooked up to used book dealers as amazon.com is, though.
