sole on anticon

yes, there's something true about them and kool keith, despite their being weirdo sexual deviants. They possess some true lyricality missing from the mainstream since Get Rich or Die Tryin, since David Banner said "it's still bullshit, but it's good," and that Prodigy recaptured as parsed from that song that talks about his messy room having 4 corners . . . I'm not trying to claim that I have a great memory, or that Ethan's Mike Ladd Afterfuture and subsequent Roots Manuva Criticism role-playing as KRS-ONE wasn't the pinnicle of underground hiphop journalism besides when Life Sucks Die didn't drop issue 9. As far as I can see, rap writing has been doomed except cocaineblunts, but I have the google skills of an amateur fisherman. In fact, fuck it, I recognize that the folly epitimized by "04 Lil Flip faux-lulz" being over with is passe. In fact, really, dude's comedy-response to my racist rap murderer thread was the most lulzy thing I've come across that's really true and not blatantly racist in a while. In fact, I've been fucking reading 4chan and garnering some half-baked lulz off of that. And I know the lulz meme is even totally played out. Encyclopedia Dramatica's irc channel is corny 96% of the time. But remember Beer and Rap? That shit was sad, for real. So was so many shrimp, sort of, but they had their moments of luv. I dunno, egotism is dead and I feel like I'm still emerging from my Tony Snow phase, and I'm not there yet, but help me. Please. I need obscure samples and the Soulseek scene only serves somewhat. I'm broke, I sold my record collection for cocaine. That's why I'm so moody.

jaxon (jaxon), Thursday, 11 January 2007 07:17 (eighteen years ago)

fuck sole-- my mistake-- despite his bighearted compositions i heard this interview with him and he's a total balloon-head hypocrite anti-wigger wigged-out hyke (copyrite 2007) minstrel with a giant, mellon-sized, big old head, of which i had repeated visions smashing it with a sledge-hammer; not gangster at all (PC PSA: only in regard to sole and other FOOLISH WHITE PEOPLE shall it be ethical to speak of "minstrel" in 2008, though really i have respect for the thoughtful subvert-the-racist-type minstrel, which mostly just exists in my internal monologue, and more flawed in the antics of SBC et al)

but anyways i've discovered empirical proof that my hypothesis is THE TRUTH UNDER GOD'S ROCKET'S RED GLARE, sweet sincere ironycore reigns supreme-- Reh Dogg - You Say I'm ugly http://one.revver.com/watch/134730 a shining beacon of talk-rock but anyway that song is a little too "personal," URL UP UR ADDRESS-BAR 4 HOMEPAGE http://www.rehdogg.com/ AND CHECK ON IT

rock and roll for the rock and roll soul (nate_patrin), Tuesday, 16 January 2007 01:29 (eighteen years ago)

I mean it's one thing to be all "yay for blabbermouth Blade Runner rap" but you're talking about the dude who made the "Stressed Out" beat for ATCQ; I doubt you're going to fall into a downward spiral of Anticon knobslobbery.

rock and roll for the rock and roll soul (nate_patrin), Tuesday, 16 January 2007 01:36 (eighteen years ago)

This thread is like three blogs talking at once. And then someone mentioned Jay Dee and then Nate got pissed.

anti-pop consortium lyricists turned rapper-producers r on the verge of doing something real dope, but, dudez, cop my joints, let's hash out some song structure, sit down, workshop the writing. sayyid, yr delusional if you think that track is popping, yr verses are aight, not yr strongest work, but it's a given that maintaining creative inspiration is a real struggle, just write that verse for the apocalypse, distill it a little more. priest, i'm feeling your resigned poetic meditation, the humor intrinsic in that disposition, and despite the lion picture i'll give you the benefit of the doubt and not accuse you of being a furry despite the sociopolitical probability. the production is real magical.

http://www.freemotionhiphop.com/freemotion/mp3z/nogatco.jpg
in 2006 news, incase you were sleeping on keith thornton's presentation of mr. nogatco's nogatco rd., one of the tightest-titled albums in the history of pop on which keith talks about riding in a black . . . hawk, bossom buddies sage francis and sole drop some of the most memorable verse to come out of the wunderground since atmosphere-overcast. the dropped gems i will display here are a series of articles of evidence of their usually latent and ultimately recessive dopeness, ommitting the lameness. at one point one of them tries to dis keith, but i'm fronting cuz i can't tell them apart, really. it's really quite spellbinding: francis on some cannibal shit, then "the shorter the hypeman, the bigger the rockstar";"philisophical strongman with a stick in his mouth-- spittin it out" eh that's mediocre bt i it might get better;"old and jaded, go back and smoke crack while they're voting for reagan" YES;then sole comes on and ugh sole says some batshit wigged-out minstrelry oh god it's so bad

http://i2.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/84/6a/d497_1.JPG
and beyond that, besides keith's the commissioner 2, on the 15th, ultramagnetic dropped, and it was dope as hell.

amazing videos, 1) Party Started w scantily clad girls in documentary-style footage of a staged house party, at the end there's a profile shot of a miffed looking girl: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgN-ExqBipc

2) Late Nite Rumble opens w keith pointing at himself in a mirror, walking towards a stage, then it cuts to shopping and fragments into party'nsanity in a car w a nice interior and an apartment with girls standing around a card table, serving. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PUi740fE_w

Despite the fakers and naysayers who started hating around y2k, Paul Barman'z great. The 12" isn't that coherent and the Memory Man beat is goofy as hell but Paul's verse on OIL at his myspace is amazing & clever (don't be skared!!) & entertaining, an aesthetically complete situationalist summation of the world's problems, delivered with real concrete visionary insight like a rhymed, super-concise more charismatic and way less old and much hotter harper's article or some shitt. After the oration his throwaway heroic triplet waxes poetic in the only leaning posteuring in the song: "new york is the shit / give me an orchestra hit // the big apple roasts in the pork on this spit" YES.
http://www.myspace.com/mcpaulbarman

also i renege my hater's stance on somanyshrimp.com-- reading it discovering slept on gems and the language is all good too-- sorry 4 tha negativist judgemental pretense! u dudez r repping sum great shit-- SOULJA'S ON MY FEET; KLC-- REAL -- if somebody'z got the medicine men record plz ysi-- I luv how he cuts out the bullshit from Beats by the Pound era underdeveloped production but retains and hashes out what made them great. I had a dream where I was chilling with KLC in his living room with all these instruments and an MPC, one of the older ones they don't make anymore, the 3000 i think, and he was recording live drums, individual rolls and we were talking about how to get industry-level glossy production real organic while keeping the the good side of commercial tracks.

I also had this one dream I was in this awkward conversation w/Baby at that all white flat he stays at in miami. His confidence is so low but he seemed really nice and likeable.
