Just sayin, but Psycho's Path by John Lydon isn't THAT bad!

i found it while i was looking for something else in my unorganized cds the other day.

it sounds better now to me than it did at the time.

i'm not sure if it's good-good, but hmmm...it's not the abortion it's cracked up to be...

some of the lyrics are painful, but then he'll hitch on some phrase and keen it in a cool way and remind me of metal box...

...i think some of the tracks sounded kinda 80s at the time, so for some reason they sound less dated now than they did then.

anyone else have this?

worst cover art of all time though! it looks like something that would be airbrushed on a bedsheet and held up in a concert! yikes!

I have a VHS somewhere of him plugging this on Tom Snyder. Never heard one song.

From wikipedia:
The artwork was created by Lydon himself. He took a picture of himself, painted a similar portrait over it, and loaded it into the Adobe Photoshop computer program. All of the lyrics for the album are included in the liner-notes, hand-written, from Lydon's original writings with added doodles and scribbles.

Speaking of the Sex Pistols, sad old Johnny Lydon (nee Rotten) recently released what was hyped as his first bona fide solo album-despite the fact that he bears sole responsibility for the last few embarrassing PiL efforts. Stilted, heavily sequenced, boasting unimaginative remixes by Moby, Left Field, and the Chemical Brothers, it's hard to believe that tunes such as the John Wayne Gacy-inspired "Psychopath" and the bubblegum silliness of "Sun" come from the same man who played a role in teeth-rattling classics such as Never Mind the Bullocks... and Metal Box. But then the Pistols reunion should have convinced us once and for all that there was no hope for this guy, right? --Jim Derogatis

"Sun" is one of the best songs!!! WHERE'S THE OUTRAGE AT DE-RO OVER THIS ILM????

alls i'm saying is that in retrospect it's kinda charming, when it's not being horrible.

the bad parts are about as bad as it gets, but i've not heard much later PIL stuff. wasn't steve vai in PIL for a minute or something? it's prolly better than that.

What is with people calling it Never Mind the Bullocks? Far as I know the Sex Pistols did not have problems with Jm J.

there's a song called "Dis-Ho" that's about greedy bitches wanting Lydon's $$$

he keeps repeating the line "Ho two? I know you!"

I doubt that it's better than "Rise", which is from the album Vai played on.

I hadn't gotten to the remixes at the end when i posted this...

there's a chemical bros. remix/edit of a leftfield song that had lydon on vox that's pretty good...also a moby mix of "grave ride" and two leftfield remixes of songs on the album...their mix of "sun", while it sticks pretty close to the original track, is awesome.

is it okay if i YSI that track on ILM? not the whole album just one...i don't know if that's kosher or what.

but yeah i'm leaving this in my car stereo and just kinda listening to it when i'm driving around...once you get over the initial disappointment it starts to charm you.

six years pass...

Spotified it:

There is nothing wrong with this....

"This is PIL" got rave reviews, this did not.

I don't get why the former is great and this is not.
