Guitar Effect question: what is the pedal that does that wobbly guitar sound...

the only older song that I think of that uses it is George's solo on Let It Be, two examples from recent times are a part of Sonic Youth's The Neutral from the latest and a guitar part in Sebadoh's Not Too Amused from Bakesale...any help would be appreciated!

probably a Rotovibe, tremolo, or some such effect.

all of which are shoegaze staples!!!

Chorus? Flange? I think on "Let it Be" the signal might have been fed through a Leslie organ speaker cabinet, but I'll leave that one to the Beatle geeks.

yah, that's a leslie on there. to get that effect (first used on john's voice on "tomorrow never knows") they had to physically break into the circuitry of a leslie cabinet (or so sez geoff emerick), since little 9-volt powered leslie pedals didn't exist yet.
