i used to say you guys were overrated, macho lunkhead so-cal bullshit that turned boring metal.

but i was wrong, i'm real sorry abt. that.

damaged roxx my world.

greg your solos on that record sound like yr trying to strangle rock music to death.

henry, you were a lot more cuter and charming when you were skinny, but i should prolly even give rollins band a second chance.

thirsty and miserable is a jam.

again, dudes, real sorry.

but greg i heard yr a dick in real life. remaster some of these shitty CD pressings for real dude

m@tt have you listened to the first four years yet? you should!

no on the rollins band thing though.

gangbanged by drunken hairdressers (teenagequiet), Friday, 12 January 2007 16:13 (nineteen years ago)

i had a friend in high school who was kind of obsessed with the rollins band but whenever i would play damaged he would complain that it was "punk shit."

cheesesteak and shake (dubplatestyle), Friday, 12 January 2007 16:13 (nineteen years ago)

then again he also enjoyed sugar more than husker du.

cheesesteak and shake (dubplatestyle), Friday, 12 January 2007 16:13 (nineteen years ago)

The dude who played drums in the Rollins Band was sick (I only ever heard them on, uh, SNL though).

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 12 January 2007 16:15 (nineteen years ago)

don't forget beavis and butthead

cheesesteak and shake (dubplatestyle), Friday, 12 January 2007 16:15 (nineteen years ago)

whenever i hear hank doing a chrysler commercial or whatever, i'm still a little taken aback

cheesesteak and shake (dubplatestyle), Friday, 12 January 2007 16:16 (nineteen years ago)

i need to get the first four years for sure.

if i see end of silence for less than $5 at some used shop, it's a done deal. it'll prolly still suck though, but i gotta give sim cain another chance dammit!

M@tt He1geson: Sassy and I Don't Care Who Knows It (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 12 January 2007 16:16 (nineteen years ago)

cheesesteak and shake (dubplatestyle), Friday, 12 January 2007 16:17 (nineteen years ago)

cheesesteak and shake (dubplatestyle), Friday, 12 January 2007 16:17 (nineteen years ago)

I love Black Flag but remember watching the Rollins Band while eating donuts at a festival thinking "Why is that man quite so angry and why is he shouting at us."

Treblekicker (treblekicker), Friday, 12 January 2007 16:18 (nineteen years ago)

Everything Went Black is still my favorite, but I would say that.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 January 2007 16:19 (nineteen years ago)

it's really sad about the rollins band, considering their first few releases (mostly the texas hotel stuff) is so fuckin' good.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 12 January 2007 16:25 (nineteen years ago)

Black Flag = kittens, babies and the American flag.
Rollins Band = stained underwear, peanut butter w/ hair in it.

Adam Beales (Pye Poudre), Friday, 12 January 2007 16:25 (nineteen years ago)

i can't believe the beavis and butthead "liar" clip isn't on youtube

You guys are totally wrong about the Rollins Band. They were great. I was really pissed I missed the recent reunion tour with X.

pdf (Phil Freeman), Friday, 12 January 2007 16:27 (nineteen years ago)

i can't believe the beavis and butthead "liar" clip isn't on youtube

Directed by Anton Corbijn -- not that you couldn't guess from the film quality.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 January 2007 16:28 (nineteen years ago)

i heartily recommend this one however:

"your dad was probably that roadie for the marshall tucker band."

cheesesteak and shake (dubplatestyle), Friday, 12 January 2007 16:28 (nineteen years ago)

I loved Rollins' "Think Tank" stand-up CD. It made me yearn for being in a band, until I remembered no-one I was in bands with was particularly "nothing can go wrong up here"

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 12 January 2007 16:29 (nineteen years ago)

Sim Cain, what a great fucking name.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 12 January 2007 16:42 (nineteen years ago)

he was a grumpy fucker but rb - andrew weis = suck

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 12 January 2007 16:49 (nineteen years ago)

on the beavis and butthead subject, has anyone seen the episode with six finger sattelite?

flavio pessoa (flavio pessoa), Friday, 12 January 2007 16:57 (nineteen years ago)

I just heard Damaged for the first time last year, total WTF HAVE I BEEN MISSING moment.

Hoosteen (Hoosteen), Friday, 12 January 2007 17:25 (nineteen years ago)

One of those vertigo moments where you suddenly realize there's this huge swath of music that you didn't know existed.

Hoosteen (Hoosteen), Friday, 12 January 2007 17:26 (nineteen years ago)

'end of silence' is absolutely 100% essential. if you like that, work your way backwards through the rollins band stuff. go forward if you must, but only as far as 'get some go again'.

the 'rise above' benefit CD (guest vocalists - lemmy, patton, bixler, araya, hank III, etc - doing BF songs with the rollins band from henry's latter-day cock-rock phase) is pretty fucking spiffing though.

mister the guanoman (mister the guanoman), Friday, 12 January 2007 19:40 (nineteen years ago)

on "Everything Went Black" which version of "Depression" is with Chavo? Do the songs go in order of the singers?

milo z (mlp), Friday, 12 January 2007 19:46 (nineteen years ago)

ok. I should point out that their 83 demos (ie my war and slip it in as recorded by the damaged era band) are amongst some of the greatest moments ever commited to tape. when I heard the version of my war I cried for a solid week.

simon 803 (simon 803), Saturday, 13 January 2007 01:32 (nineteen years ago)

i have to go put up flyers for a show today, so i think i'm gonna get the first four years when i go to extreme noise. i'm excited.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Saturday, 13 January 2007 15:32 (nineteen years ago)

Wonder if Chuck ever had kids?

BlackIronPrison, Friday, 13 June 2008 20:33 (seventeen years ago)

Matt have you got on to In My Head yet?

Niles Caulder, Saturday, 14 June 2008 03:39 (seventeen years ago)

no but i heard slip it in the other nite at a friends house and it ruled the school

M@tt He1ges0n, Saturday, 14 June 2008 19:53 (seventeen years ago)

Im My Head was the first Flag album I heard, but the first one I bought was Everything Went Black, and I worked my way forward from there. IMH has some kick-ass tunes, but it's got a slower pace to stuff like Slip It In and Loose Nut (if you dug Slip It In, you should love Loose Nut too).

MacDara, Saturday, 14 June 2008 22:02 (seventeen years ago)

I am been a silly old twat but can you pesky kids please give me the name of the a current band as vital as Black Flag?

Thanks.
