I'm still happy to hear Energy Flash and Pacific State now, and danced to both out last year :)

Considering (checking Discogs) I first heard them both around 15 years ago, and even that will have been two or three years after they actually first came out, not bad going!!

Yeah I agree with all that, I'd have picked it myself but I don't think of it as 'rave' or a 'dance anthem' in a sufficiently broad sense.

I'm not sure if this is a cultural/geographic difference or what. Most of the raves I went to in the 90s were in the New England/New York area and tended toward the Techno side of things, so The Bells seemed like a rave anthem to me. It always seemed to get a big crowd response.

I think the "Tweakin' Acid Funk" remix of HSoC is pretty timeless, because it only has drums, bass and 303. The radio mix and the mix they used to play on MTV when it was rereleased probably sound a lot more dated. But anyway, it's probably too new to be considered a "rave anthem".

I think it probably is a geographic difference insofar as in the UK, 'rave' as a genre had fairly definitive elements to its sound, and for a while had a pretty strong presence on the singles charts.

I was just reading the other day about the raves that Frankie Bones, Lenny Dee etc played round NYC in the early 90s, they sounded pretty incredible
