Shakey Mo Collier (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 16 January 2007 21:18 (nineteen years ago)

(okay probably not, but I believe this is the most recent piece of music he's composed and it is its "world premiere")

Shakey Mo Collier (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 16 January 2007 21:19 (nineteen years ago)

I would imagine he isn't a wierd hermit dood; probably like a congenial professor type...

Joe (Joe), Tuesday, 16 January 2007 21:19 (nineteen years ago)

perverted professor type, more likely

Shakey Mo Collier (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 16 January 2007 21:20 (nineteen years ago)

I imagine his only remaining perversion is Bono

Dr. Alicia D. Titsovich (sexyDancer), Tuesday, 16 January 2007 21:24 (nineteen years ago)

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 16 January 2007 21:43 (nineteen years ago)

hahahahahaha!

geeta (geeta), Tuesday, 16 January 2007 21:44 (nineteen years ago)

Matt, I saw him interviewed on the old TechTV once (before G4 merger) so it can't be that hard.

Marmot (marmotwolof), Tuesday, 16 January 2007 22:02 (nineteen years ago)

(I think it was on The Screen Savers)

Marmot (marmotwolof), Tuesday, 16 January 2007 22:03 (nineteen years ago)

cool marmot...for some reason i think it being abt a video game instead of music might make it easier for some reason....

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 16 January 2007 22:07 (nineteen years ago)

hahahahahaha!

-- geeta (geet...), January 16th, 2007. (geeta)

is he not associated w/them anymore, or is astralwerks dead or something?

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 16 January 2007 22:09 (nineteen years ago)

i think this refers to how geeta was stymied in getting an interview with the big man himself for her eno book

x-post
Yeah, I think he'd be down for talking some geek shit with a dude from GI. :D

On Screen Savers he mostly talked about that Long Now Foundation, old Yamaha synths and Logic. This was like 3 or 4 years ago.

Marmot (marmotwolof), Tuesday, 16 January 2007 22:20 (nineteen years ago)

well, looky here:
http://www.g4tv.com/screensavers/features/47159/Can_Brian_Eno_Reinvent_the_Future.html

Screen Savers had pretty good taste in choosing music related guests, now that I think of it. I remember seeing Bob Moog on there before he died with a guy demonstrating a theremin and everything.

Marmot (marmotwolof), Tuesday, 16 January 2007 22:41 (nineteen years ago)

His diary 'A Year with Swollen Appendices' is getting republished soon, so he may be more amenable to getting on the interview treadmill.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Tuesday, 16 January 2007 22:50 (nineteen years ago)

For Arthur last year, we went thru his USA record label, but then we had Kristine McKenna in our corner, which was really what made it happen. best of luck...

JayBabcock (jabbercocky), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 00:27 (nineteen years ago)

what's his US label?

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 00:31 (nineteen years ago)

what's his US label?

Astralwerks/Virgin put out those reissues.
Try Alison or Katie there.

Dave Segal (Da ve Segal), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 01:41 (nineteen years ago)

Did someone say "warm jets" yet?

Someone on the main door might be able to help. If you meant Eno however, well...

(sigh) If someone could post the picture I'd be grateful, I've forgotten the routine (again).

tolstoy (tolstoy), Wednesday, 17 January 2007 17:44 (nineteen years ago)

It's not current, but the interview with him on From Brussels With love would indicate not only is he not a hermit (or hermit bound) but he's very unpretentious and quite AWESOME.

Dan Gr (certain), Thursday, 18 January 2007 14:23 (eighteen years ago)

Imagine if he googled here. Wouldn't that be cool?

i'll mitya halfway (mitya), Thursday, 18 January 2007 14:28 (eighteen years ago)

There was a blog post by some policy wonk/social scientist about how he ran into Eno at some conference, it was linked from ILE. So, not hermit. From what I've read he's very approachable and personable, just not the easiest guy to get access to.

Edward III (edward iii), Thursday, 18 January 2007 14:37 (eighteen years ago)

Matt you probably know this but one of the more recent things he did was the soundtrack for a video game called Glitterbug. Perhaps you could work off of that?

sleeve version 2.0 (sleeve testing), Thursday, 18 January 2007 15:40 (eighteen years ago)

yeah i'm trying to contact Electronic Arts right now, they are doing spore the current project...I've actually not heard of Glitterbug.

haven't heard back from Astralwerks.

M@tt He1g3s0n: oh u mad cuz im stylin on u (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 18 January 2007 15:41 (eighteen years ago)

Casually mention that you'll be serving Black Forest Cake during the interview.

Nobody can resist Black Forest Cake.
