So i dunno what kind of reputation he's got around here, but he & the Pharmacists have done some stuff i really like.

New record coming out March, supposedly has leaked already. I've seen alot written about it, especially about the location of recording & such which didn't mean much to me.. Long View Farms?

Anyway, looking forward to it, seeing what everyone has heard, etc.

I've only heard "Sons of Cain". it was very good, though, and has reassured me that there will be no fixing of that which is not broken.

I am psyched for this. "Sons of Cain" is solid.

yeah "Sons Of Cain" was the song that really stuck with me as soon as he started playing the new songs live, so I was pretty happy that that was the first track they leaked, even if it seems like a less obvious lead single (if it is, in fact, the single) than "Rude Boys" or "Me & Mia."

one month passes...
It's one of those records where you know it's significantly too long but you couldn't take anything away (okay, except maybe "The World Keeps Turning") without disrupting the flow of the record as a whole. Even "Bomb.Repeat.Bomb." can stay because it provides a nice jolt of energy, even if it sounds kind of like RATM or something.

Definitely more engaging than "Shake the Sheets", and in general it's a much more substansive record than most I've heard this year.

(Also, it helps that "The Lost Brigade" sounds kind of like "The Flesh Failures" from Hair.)

this is in the main quite awful and i want to punch myself in the face for even typing that. BUT THE TRUTH MUST BE TOLD.

you think? I'm still slowly letting it sink in and so far I don't like it as much as Shake The Sheets, but there's enough songs I really like ("La Costa Brava," "Sons of Cain," "The Toro and the Toreador") or that I think will grow on me that it's not registering as a disappointment.

i'm only half-kidding. shakes the sheets obviously grew on me in a big way after being initially turned off by it and ted leo is one of the few humans that i'm willing to give a lot of rope, so we'll see.

Haven't heard the album but i heard a bunch of the new songs at a show I saw at American University, and it seemed pretty solid. More of a reggae feel, at least when he played it live. Pretty Cool, I thought. His stuff always grows on me, without fail.
