Will you be playing Clique at Clique?

someone had to do it (nostudium), Friday, 19 January 2007 16:43 (nineteen years ago)

I was going to ask if you meant 60s psyche/beat group The Clique (sadly no, but I've spent a LONG time going their stuff trying to find something suitable - them and 80s soul group Klique) but then I checked on Allmusic and there's like 60+ bands named Clique or some variation of. If any of them are any good please let me know!

Affectian (Affectian), Saturday, 20 January 2007 13:28 (nineteen years ago)

There are three main bands called the Clique that I know of. All are decent, and strangely two are mod bands from the UK. Now evidently you have some sort of club, which is cool, except you have hit upon one of my obsessions, the 1960's mod band The Clique (and will be railroaded accordingly).

There was the 80's "Mod Revival" band the Clique, who don't suck at all, but I don't really like Mod Revival (of that sort) and don't really like them.

Then there was the 60's White Whale west coast pop-sike group the Clique, who would actually really be a big group for me (in the manner of any Zekley/Yellow Balloon etc) if I weren't so damn obsessed with the 60's UK one. Part of it was FINDING the record!

I finally found my holy grail of theirs, the full-length Clique vinyl issue on the extremely godlike Dig The Fuzz label and while not every track is as fucking top as "She Ain't No Good", it was still great to finally get ahold of it.

Anyone who might share this obsession can contact me and I will shoot you a zip file of it. I'd be interested in connecting with anyone who cares about any of this (and am indeed already in loads of forums and such about it that I don't really have time for as it is).

And get started looking for the Bad Boys LP!! "(She's A) Breakaway" is an all timer for me and I found that one too!!! (Again, sadly, that's the best track.) But WOW!!!

I am told the Clique drummer lives in Chicago now.... weird stuff.

Anyway, great name!! Good luck with the club. Seems like you have the right publicist!
