Oh hell yeah! Does McLaughlin/Sharrock count? Were they ever actually in the studio together playing at once?

Harold Kelling/Glen Phillips (Hampton Grease Band)

What I was going to post! What freaks!

blotter Budweiser Hackeysadk (nickalicious), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 19:02 (nineteen years ago)

At least one of my first set of nominations is unquestionably a "rhythm/rhythm" pairing.

Candy: tastes like chicken, if chicken was a candy. (Austin, Still), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 19:04 (nineteen years ago)

Keith Richards/Brian Jones

Tim Ellison = NUMBER ONE ADVOCATE OF YOU-KNOW-WHAT ON NU-ILX!!! (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 19:17 (nineteen years ago)

Richards / Taylor
O'Brien / Greenwood
Hynde / Honeyman-Scott (OK, mainly the latter, but damn he seems really underrated)

Adam Harrison-Friday (AdamFriday), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 19:17 (nineteen years ago)

"Richards / Taylor"

and if you take richards out of the equation it's even more awesome!

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 19:20 (nineteen years ago)

Dude...

Tim Ellison = NUMBER ONE ADVOCATE OF YOU-KNOW-WHAT ON NU-ILX!!! (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 19:21 (nineteen years ago)

I understand the Charlie Watts thing, but...

Tim Ellison = NUMBER ONE ADVOCATE OF YOU-KNOW-WHAT ON NU-ILX!!! (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 19:21 (nineteen years ago)

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 19:25 (nineteen years ago)

Kendall Jones / John Bigham (Fishbone in it's gloriousest of glory days)

blotter Budweiser Hackeysadk (nickalicious), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 19:26 (nineteen years ago)

They're only both there for Reality and Monkey, right? I'd place the gloriousest of days slightly before - Truth and Soul, then Reality. But that's quibbling.

Candy: tastes like chicken, if chicken was a candy. (Austin, Still), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 19:32 (nineteen years ago)

haha I'm just glad there's finally someone else besides me on ilm who cares about Fishbone! (Suddenly I feel ashamed of myself for not having heard their new album.)

blotter Budweiser Hackeysadk (nickalicious), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 20:44 (nineteen years ago)

Also, David Byrne/Jerry Harrison (you know, that one band, with the heads that were talking).

blotter Budweiser Hackeysadk (nickalicious), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 20:45 (nineteen years ago)

Definitely a rhythm/rhythm.

blotter Budweiser Hackeysadk (nickalicious), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 20:45 (nineteen years ago)

Without Fish, they aren't really Fishbone. Although I thought Psychotic Friends Nutwerx (or whatever) wasn't too bad. Last thing I've heard from 'em, though.

Candy: tastes like chicken, if chicken was a candy. (Austin, Still), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 20:48 (nineteen years ago)

Dave Murray / Den Stratton
Reggie Lucas / Pete Cosey (Miles Davis)(plus Dominique Gaumont on Dark Magus)
Fripp / Belew (for a couple of albums anyway)

Matt #2 (Matt #2), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 21:11 (nineteen years ago)

Harris/Smith is the pairing I would go with. Stratton was only around for one album.

Bill Magill (Bill Magill), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 21:47 (nineteen years ago)

Without Fish, they aren't really Fishbone.

Yeah, pretty much, although I would recommend checking out Live at the Temple Bar & More (2004 I think?), it is way more...Fishboney...than the Familyhood Nexperience album or whatever it was called (that album had Donny Osmond on it!).

blotter Budweiser Hackeysadk (nickalicious), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 21:54 (nineteen years ago)

On the cover of "Everybody is a Star" that had all of LA singing one line? That's on the album I'm thinking of, along with "The Sufferring."

Candy: tastes like chicken, if chicken was a candy. (Austin, Still), Thursday, 25 January 2007 01:23 (nineteen years ago)

And "The Sufferring" is really a pretty great track.

McLaughlin and Sharrock also play together on Wayne Shorter "Supernova" which is one of my favorite albums EVAH! And they have great chemistry.

A-ron Hubbard (Hurting), Thursday, 25 January 2007 01:55 (nineteen years ago)

Also:

Herb Ellis/Joe Pass
Ian MacKaye/Guy Piciotto

A-ron Hubbard (Hurting), Thursday, 25 January 2007 01:57 (nineteen years ago)

Mercer/Million
Buxton/Bruce

hank (hank s), Thursday, 25 January 2007 02:38 (nineteen years ago)

Oh man, Scofield/Frisell! I only know the one album they did under Sco's name, although I'm aware they were in a group before that (Bass Desires, I think.)

Anybody know those earlier records? C/D/S/D/I/R/S/L/O/L?
