Audio-2: "Top Billin'"

This just came on the radio. I think it came out in 1987? Anyway, I remember getting drunk at a high-school party, recited the lyrics to this song, and everyone thinking that I'd gone nuts. And I think that it's one of the Beastie Boys' favorite songs, FWIW.

Anyone else remember this little old school jem? Did Audio-2 ever do anything else with themselves?

"Milk is chillin'/Jizmo's chillin'/What more can I say? Top billin'!/That's what we get/ Got it? Good!/And since you've understood ..."

could you?...

this is def. my vote for Hip Hop Anthem. Only audio two I have is 2 copies of this 12" but i'd like to get this whole album if I can find it. there's a song called 'put it to music' vocals only so you can get all dj on it and do your own mixes.

I just reread the first sentence, and I was abbreviating 'definitely' but it is also true that THIS IS DEF

Problem was, they were also responsible for maybe the first homophobic hip-hop track that left lefty music fans all tizzified: "Whatcha Lookin' At?" (Nothing much, ASSHOLE.) There was a story about it in the Voice at the time, possibly by Michael Musto, possibly calling for a boycott of Atlantic product.

Never heard it, but it sure sounds cringe-inducing. "Top Billin'" is ace, though. The guy hardly changes his whiny register throughout the song, which is very very punk rock.

it's good but still the worst song in the ready to die intro. with a few sizable exceptions there's something i really just don't get about eighties rap.

Saying it's the worst song on the Ready To Die intro isn't exactly an insult.

When I first heard this song I thought it was some Weird Al thing.

Check out Milk's solo (mini) album Never Dated from 1995. It features the mighty Spam (a duet with Beastie Boy Ad-Rock), the unstoppable Go 2 Hell and the equally entertaining Get Off My Log.
