At long last, I have joined the iPod generation nation thingy. So, what kind of armor is best for this doohickamagizmo?

It's a 4g nano. I walk and bus most everywhere. It will probably live most of the time in my breast pocket with my phone and pens and pencils. Do I want something rigid? Cushiony? Cushiony within rigid? Should there be a closable hatch for the controls, or just an open space? Keep in mind I'm cheap, so I want a cheap whatever it is, but also one that will unfailingly protect against all kinds of mishaps, assaults, drive-by shootings, gelatinous cube ambushes, and hipster disdain because I sure as hell ain't affording a replacement notime soon.

I just remembered how often I drop my phone and pens and pencils from my breast pocket, so maybe that part of the plan could be adjusted.

Have you tried stapling it to your forehead?

Oh, shit. I've become RJG, haven't I?

I don't have a forehead. Does Apple make those as well? How about this chocolate, of which you speak?

i just got an 80gb one, and am looking for suggestions as well. I haven't taken the plastic off the front yet for fear it'll scratch as easily as my 3rd gen. one did (which I dropped on the concrete on a regular basis)

The easiest one to find a lot of praise on the web for seems to be Otter Box - it's not just allegedly tough, but also allegedly waterproof, which I have to say sounds pretty cool, since we're in the middle of the rainiest winter I can remember in these parts. The drawback (if such even counts) is that it's pretty chunky. I almost would rataher a chunky thing. The gizmo itself is so small I'm kind of worried about losing it.
