Way into this album right now. Never really connected with their earlier stuff, but this is really good. Anyone heard it?

By the way, are these the Ayler's Angels / Army of Ghosts guys or am I thinking of some other NYC scumfucks?

I know they had an ep on Vice Records maybe 3 years ago, though they sounded very different then.

I listened to a few tracks of this and it sounded fine, but the lyrics - "summer of love" platitudes and dull heroin references - were killing me and I had to shut it off.

such douchebags

They have profiles up on purevolume.com and myspace.com; sites that many view as the homes of immature and newly forming bands. "As of right now, it's our closest thing to whatever a promoter can be. Definitely myspace is cool because you can post songs on it and a lot of people look at it," Josh said. This approach is winning Vietnam an underground cult following.

find me a band that doesn't have a myspace profile and i'll show you a black guy who likes indie rock

I've never heard them, but I know they had a line-up change at some point...Ivan from Ghost Exits joined...grew a beard...maybe not in that order.

black guy who likes indie rock

"Josh told me that, "we got this guy, Reginald, that we found on the street playing out of a battery powered amp. A 55-year-old black guy, we got his a wheelchair and wheeled him down to the Parish and he got on stage during our last song and played with us. I think people were pretty blown away. We didn't rehearse we just told him what key the song was in and got his battery powered amp on there and a microphone and somehow it worked out. Somehow he got it. We had gotten (in to the city) early so me and Mike, our drummer were just walking around got drinks and were just cruising. And we saw him playing and were just talking to him and he had a cool style and he had done some stuff for Cash Money, and No limit. I don't know, he said he had played on some New Orleans rap."

Saw them play at the Fader party. They look like they should be good, I guess (beards are so "in" right now, haven't you heard?) but they sound BOOOOOOOORING. Lame lyrics, so-so music. Bleh. Oh, and really douchey people too. A guy I play music with sometimes was really pissed at them that night. Apparently they brushed him off even though they'd known him for years (I didn't get too involved in that one, but the guy's really a great person, so that indicates something to me).
They also had a guy dancing on stage through the whole show who introduced them, and said they "helped him out" in some way... Forgot how. He reminded me of Fat Kid from Metalocalypse. As in, he's their token charity or something.

Once upon a time, long ago, in Austin,Tx, the drummer Michael Foss was in a band called the Prima Donnas.

He's a nice guy. I haven't heard Vietnam. The Prima Donnas were fun back then.

Jacob Sanders (LolVStein), Sunday, 28 January 2007 00:54 (nineteen years ago)

Nah. Gerner was in the Prima Donnas. Mike Foss was in a band called Masculine/Feminine.
