Erm, because he keeps being mentioned. Inspired creator of visual symphonies and more comely than Linda Barker, or frilly-shirted git?

AP, Saturday, 7 April 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I prefer Linda Barker. This is all getting a bit post-modern.

jel, Saturday, 7 April 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

LLB should be shut in a cardboard box tied up with string, and left in a room with no electricity.

DG, Saturday, 7 April 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

And this particular entity is...who?

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 7 April 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

LLB appears on the BBC1 television show "Changing Rooms" he is an interior designer. He dresses very flambuoyantly, and is known for his comedic banter with Handy Andy.

jel, Sunday, 8 April 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

He's also a complete knob.

Michael Bourke, Sunday, 8 April 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Does he really keep getting mentioned?

Tom, Monday, 9 April 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Mentioned in the should artists be allowed to build their own studios thread, and once somewhere else. In medicine, if something occurs twice it constitutes a syndrome. In pop culture, two mentions constitute a trend. Twice is plenty. Three mentions and we've got a movement on our hands.

To deliver a verdict, in my limited exposure to Mr. Bowen, he strikes me as somewhat of a ponce and somewhat more of a nonce. Therefore dud. In my limited exposure to Ms. Barker, she strikes me as lovely, though I prefered her hair shoulder-length (classic) rather'n breast-length (dud) (a rare reversal of my normal preferences!).

I think that you are all twats ! it doesn't matter what you all think of him , He's made a loot of money out of doing what he was doing anyway but now he does it on TV. As for his dress sense his Prada boots and Versace suits costs more than most of you will probably earn in your entire lives!!

Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen is Ned Raggett pretending to be Brett Anderson.

i love Mr bowen, i would love to fuck him senseless, with his versace boots on

Dr great, Wednesday, 18 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I think statements like that are a bit unneccessary in these news groups, esp when lawrence is such a lovely young man. anyway he takes his boots off when he does the do

i think he is quite delicious. The way he tosses back his raven locks drives me mad. Anyone who can work in those beautiful clothes and look that fine have my full attention.

American fans of mid-'80s WWF might find that LLB resembles Leaping Lanny Poffo a great deal, only w/o the facial hair.

Was LLB the one who provoked the "whore's palace" comments about that one room? The male home owner's reaction was something like, "It's me, me mates, and a bucket of emulsion straightaway." That was the best Changing Rooms evah.

I absolutely love Larry!!! I think he adds such a great touch of imagination and class to the show. I would love to do lunch sometime. If you ever get to Los Angeles, give me a buzz.

Hello all, I've been dedicated follower of Laurence for some time now. I have a shrine in my house and a hand-sculpted MDF statue of the man himself. I have also changed my name to Laurence (Lozza) in honour of him, even though i am a woman. I think you are all fools to ever doubt the power of the Lozz-meister and his frilly shirts. His dress sence is simply devine, and frankly i wouldn't care what boots he was wearing as long as his ding-a-ling was in full 'swing'.

You guys have no idea what you are talking about. Any man that loves to have as much fun as he does and can move his body sooo sexily has my full attention. He is an excellent artist and has great taste. Some of his rooms were just magnificent. He is truly an inspiration. He is in my daydreams and nightdreams forever. And I think right now he "sleeps alone".

Angel, Saturday, 1 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I love laurence Everyone who's saying these things about him is a complete idiot- and you're just jealous!!! I always thought I was the only one who loved him (apart from his WIFE!!!). anyone who shares the same interest as me- llb- can please contact me???

no'omi, Sunday, 2 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

no'omi where do you live?

Angel, Tuesday, 4 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

LLB is fab !!! His outfits are great, a mark of how much he does not care what saddos think. His rooms are exellent even if there have been a few that have not pleased the owners... as much the neighbours fault as his sice they are supposed to knoow the people in question and advise on their taste.

Helena Darcy, Monday, 17 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

i think that LLB is brilliant. he has the best designs on the telly, and i always watch him. He enspires me, as i too want to be a interior designer. lawrence really is a classic!

kara eliza garland, Wednesday, 19 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

I love love love love love him! AND I am probably the only satanist punk to do so... Oh well, he is a great inspiration, and if you r gonna tie him in that cardboard box, please seal me in there too! His dress sense is out of this world and I desperatly need an artistic boyfriend like him who dresses in fab frilly shirts and has the most gorgeous hair (I've been trying to convince tonnes of boys @ my school to grow their hair!) anyways, I need sedative quick quick QUICK!!!!!!

LLB is one of the most talented desiners of our time. On Changing rooms/home front etc... he always goes that extra mile. He can come and design mine and my wifes house any time. He is a true inspiration and a look to the future.

Paul humhphries, Thursday, 18 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

well what can I say, finally a artist/ designer who truely finds the inner-self in a person (ie death by chocolate room, even though he hates chocolate himself) Thy dream room becomes reality with LLB. He shows you how to be daring with a splash of purple and surealism. You don't have to put up with fitted wardrobes and lacey net curtains - NO MORE. CLASSIC

LLB's sister works as a doctor in the same hospital I work in so I'm not going to say anything bad about the man!

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 08:19 (nineteen years ago) link

Sarah Beenay was alright until she started mucking around with the hair dye.

Kirstie Allsopp is an acknowledged crush of shame - gorgeous and cuddly and she's a bit of a right-wing nutbag as well! What more could I ask for?

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Tuesday, 4 October 2005 08:21 (nineteen years ago) link

Kirstie Allsopp is most of my wrong-headed fantasies in one bootylicious package.
