I dunno, the Beats In Space playlist doesn't even list a label for it.

I hope that has no bearing on his relationship with Ms. Gonzalez. They made such a lovely couple.

Seriously tho' any chance of a new album from these folks this year?

Actually, answering my own question, James Murphy he say on DFA forums...

hopefully. they've been in berlin and off the map for a bit making art, but i hope to hear some new stuff. just because they don't put out dfa stuff a lot just means they're making gallery art instead for a while. i love those guys.

In the same vein, what ever happened to "Song #5"? I only ever saw it on that DFA mix that went around a while back.

I would do a swan dive into a volcano if it meant I got to hear the much-rumored Black Leotard Front album. Days of Mars was a landmark record for me but I have to believe an album made in the spirit of "Casual Friday" > *

a BLF album would be so awesome!

maybe if everyone talks about how much they love "casual friday," we can force the BLF album out! it was my favorite single of 2006!

69 (plsmith), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 05:11 (nineteen years ago)

it was my favorite of 2005! ;-)
but it also sounds like a fun one-off thing they did.

I remember a few foax bigging up "Hey Coach (I Read Your Diary)" as being in a similar vein to "Casual Friday" - I'd heard it was going to be the follow-up single, but that was pretty much the last news to surface on the album before they went arting around in Berlin.

one year passes...

anyone seen this?

willem, Friday, 20 June 2008 08:04 (seventeen years ago)

the story i heard (via DFA HQ) is that the BLF follow-up was founded around a bassline recorded via bouncing basketball. but somehow the files got corrupted. as it was impossible to recreate that peculiar sound, it was scrapped.
