Hook me up with some good ones, friends.

the VERY first one that springs to mind is The Cure's 'Pornography'. if you haven't heard it, it should be your compulsory next purchase.

Great feedback! Not really on eMusic, but...thanks.

Roxy Music - For Your Pleasure is the second that leaps into my brain, get that one too.

Mogwai - Rock Action is their best album

Mercury Rev - Yerself is Steam ditto (I've recently re-evaluated it just ahead of Boces, although both are awesome)

Genesis - Selling England By The Pound is the only album of theirs I own, and if you believe Geir Hongro it's the pinnacle of modern music (or something)...it IS pretty good, to be fair.

which one?

if Dan Perry were here he'd recommend Underworld's 'Second-Toughest In The Infants'; seeing as he isn't, I will.

Some eight song albums I've gotten from emusic:

Max Roach - Deeds Not Words
Judas Priest - Rocka Rolla
Gastr Del Sol - The Serpentine Similar
Duke Ellington - The Afro-Eurasian Eclipse

The 80's ruled for short albums. Here's 5 you don't come across that often:

Gee Mr Tracy - Harmony! Rhapsody! Destiny!
Fred Lane & Ron 'Pate's Debonairs - From The One That Cut You
Malcolm McLaren - Swamp Thing
Sudden Sway - Ko-Opera
Material - No Purpose

All recommended except Fred Lane one - find his other(9 track)one.

Though having read the thread properly, I'm thinking these won't be on e-music.

I thought Dan was not very fond of Second Toughest In The Infants.

lots of Monk albums are 8 or less, esp. Misterioso, Monk's Music, Brilliant Corners

go to the Dozens page and you'll find loads of good recommendations: http://www.emusic.com/features/hub/dozens/index.html

Funkadelic - Maggot Brain

The original album is only the first 7 tracks. So you can save the last track for a rainy day!

Whiney G. Weingarten (whineyg), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 08:38 (eighteen years ago)

Springheel Jack's The Sweetness of the Water is the last 8-tracker I got from eMusic. That's pretty good.

Tim R-J (Rambler), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 11:27 (eighteen years ago)

emusic has

1) Tons of albums by The Fall
2) Scott Walker - The Drift
3) J.Newsom - Ys (and Milky)
4) The Morgan Fisher "Miniatures" album
5) All the great Neu! albums.
6) The Prefects / Nightingales albums.

Off you go mate.
