There is no obligation to write about music, even if you can't put two good words together and have nothing to say. Don't base your career on these things -- whatever you've heard, that's not all there is to it. Greatest single ever, it drones on for eleven minutes of drudgery says nothing. Sorry and this song lead by Sufjan on piano and the Illinoisemakers on chorus are great says nothing (except that it suggests, like everything on that page, that you can't punctuate, you can't write anything that anyone would want to read, you haven't read anything that anyone else has written and you couldn't really give a shit about music at all, or anything for that matter, because of all the possible experiences in human life, from the shit and the scandal, the usual tedium to the maddening highs, the least appetising vocation I can currently conceive of would be to type up those shitty words on your shitty blog. I understand that typing this crap makes me complicit, but that's as nothing compared to what you've done. Give up and go home.) I think that's what you're doing wrong.

I don't wanna join the bullying here, but a lot of that reads like an Outside Scoop column by Jackie Harvey.

And anyway, writing about music is like dancing about blah blah blah. Music journalism in general is tedious to write (unless you're very good) and tedious to read (unless you're very good). I guess my question, then, is "Why?"
