It's Lily Allen's left tit.
― Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 17:27 (eighteen years ago)
The NME tears Kate Nash's single apart in the newest issue, but I haven't heard a note of her yet. I'll take Lily Allen bandwaggoners over, I don't know, Bloc Party ones, I think.

who are the bloc party bandwaggoners tiki? no sarkiness i just wonder who you mean if anyone specific.
― pisces (piscesx), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 18:06 (eighteen years ago)
However I wouldn't compare her to Lily Allen at all on the basis of that single (it's all I've heard of her). Then again, she is one of those stage-schooly types; her artiness is contrived.

And I don't want to be mean because she will probably google herself someday and actually read this but I think that unfortunately she is just not a very attractive girl.
I try not to be sexist, but that song MIGHT actually work if she were HOT. (Actually, it is just bad, nm).
Otherwise, it is without flair (which Lily Allen does indeed possess, whatever you might think of her) and devoid of everything in precisely the manner you describe. Perhaps the 2600 spins a day she gets in myspace are all just people playing it again and again trying to figure out why the stuff is getting so many spins.
Or maybe it is just third-tier "anti-folk" (whatever that is) and the only reason anyone cares about it is because she knows Lily, and trades off of that only too readily I might add.

ok i've read a few weekend on sunday pieces on this broad, but none of them even tried to describe her music. perhaps i will visit "my space" and figure it out for myself, but nothing her boosters or she herself have said recommend her. i'm guessing that her backstory will be revealed sandie thom-style pretty soon. she's a young'un so it's not her fault entirely, but the journalists who promote her are running-dogs.

'Kate Nash has revealed that she is currently writing a series of short stories, and plans to release a book in the future...Nash explained that she is working on a story for children based around a seven-foot transvestite named Roy, and that author Roald Dahl is an influence on her work. "I'd like to release a collection of short stories," she explained. "I'm writing one a bout a 12 year-old boy called George, who meets a seven-foot cross-dresser called Roy. It's a concept about imagination and being whatever your dream is. There's a lot of things I want to achieve creatively," Nash went on to say. "I just like chucking things out and thinking, 'Whatever'"' -

lol I'm playing this again for the first time since I last posted to this thread and I still like "Foundations" a lot
kind of cringing remembering the dickhead song that will soon be bludgeoning my ears, though
on balance, she's kind of like a British, mopey, piano-based version of Poe

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p07ctstz/kate-nash-underestimate-the-girl
Underestimate the Girl is an intimate portrait of British singer-songwriter Kate Nash and follows her journey over several years in her pursuit to remain a creatively and financially independent artist. After being dropped by a major label, Kate learns (the hard way) how to navigate the music industry as a self-sufficient businesswoman and creative.
