pisces (piscesx), Saturday, 3 February 2007 14:19 (eighteen years ago)

yeah, shame. the video is also pretty bad esp. when davina and co. turn up.

vita susicivus (blueski), Saturday, 3 February 2007 15:08 (eighteen years ago)

Wow, that is awful.

jimn (jimnaseum), Saturday, 3 February 2007 15:35 (eighteen years ago)

The girl in the light blue is very hot.

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Saturday, 3 February 2007 20:52 (eighteen years ago)

The song feels so rushed, like "let's finish this charity record so we can start on some other things". The chorus is great, and some of the verses are great (except the last, which was more low-key and should have built up to a huge chorus) but overall I'm not as thrilled about it as I hoped to be. It will be a massive seller though.

Also, nice to see they left in the "muffin" line!

musically (musically), Saturday, 3 February 2007 21:54 (eighteen years ago)

The video is pretty lame too...at least they all look super hot, especially Keisha and Nicola.

musically (musically), Saturday, 3 February 2007 21:58 (eighteen years ago)

STEPHEN MANGAN!

acrobat (elwisty), Saturday, 3 February 2007 23:54 (eighteen years ago)

the best thing about the entire 'walk this way' rigamarole is the ewen macintosh cameo in the video

maura (maura), Sunday, 4 February 2007 05:23 (eighteen years ago)

Levi's commercial in 5, 4, 3...

Tape Store (Tape Store), Sunday, 4 February 2007 06:40 (eighteen years ago)

So... is there going to be a worse single than this released in 2007?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:03 (eighteen years ago)

Why are they all singing like Destiny's Child?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:04 (eighteen years ago)

Remember "pop music"? It was the big thing a couple of years ago. It was the genre schroomadelica could have been.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:04 (eighteen years ago)

You know how neither band are any good at dancing? What a great idea to end the video with a dance off.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:05 (eighteen years ago)

Seriously... Jocelyn Lee Essien? Why?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:05 (eighteen years ago)

Stephen Mangan can fuck off as well.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:05 (eighteen years ago)

Why isn't the guy he does his happy shopper Stiller/Wilson impressions with in the Barclaycard adverts in this video?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:06 (eighteen years ago)

I feel more sympathy for Reverend Run over this than I do over his son being born with his guts hanging out.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:07 (eighteen years ago)

i thought people were joking when they mentioned this.

the original hauntology blogging crew (Enrique), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:07 (eighteen years ago)

Someone inject Dallas Austin with Aids immediately. Before he does any more damage to music.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:12 (eighteen years ago)

Oooh, it's a mess. Nice idea, but it's all gone wrong, and the whole song needs to sound like the 1st chorus.

Johnney B English (stigoftdump), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:12 (eighteen years ago)

it's not really a nice idea.

not quite the 'meeting of opposites' suggested by the original.

the original hauntology blogging crew (Enrique), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:13 (eighteen years ago)

Perhaps Jamie T vs The View should have done it instead.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:16 (eighteen years ago)

Or Peter Kay vs Aerosmith.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:34 (eighteen years ago)

We've got the well known Scotsmen Peter Kay and Matt Lucas covering "500 Miles" though as well.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:35 (eighteen years ago)

Oh ffs...

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:36 (eighteen years ago)

the song dallas austin produced for the ciara album is AMAZING.

this is obv not. why did anyone expect it to be? it would be like expecting 'jump' or 'i'll stand by you' to be world-changingly awesome. ('i'll stand by you' WAS! but that's by the by.)

antidote against poisoning (lex pretend), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:39 (eighteen years ago)

the song dallas austin produced for the ciara album is AMAZING.

DA also managed to drag two good songs out of Anastacia's useless arse but fuck me he helps P!nk produced some utter dreck.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:40 (eighteen years ago)

As though corporate apologist for racism Davina McCall shouldn't be ASHAMED to show her face ANYWHERE at the moment, red nose or not!

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:41 (eighteen years ago)

eh?

vita susicivus (blueski), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:44 (eighteen years ago)

what you have to remember is that it's lex.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Monday, 5 February 2007 14:45 (eighteen years ago)

Noel, is that you?

musically (musically), Monday, 5 February 2007 15:10 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, alright, give him bird flu then.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 5 February 2007 15:10 (eighteen years ago)

YOU WON'T BE MAKING THOSE JOKES WHEN THE PANDEMIC UNLEASHES ITS FULL FEARSOME POWER (Tom Bratby reports)

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Monday, 5 February 2007 15:12 (eighteen years ago)

jump was great! i don't quite get the concept here. is it just that girls aloud and the sugababes are percived to be rivals?

acrobat (elwisty), Monday, 5 February 2007 15:13 (eighteen years ago)

the worst thing is probably the addition of that weird half-bridge before the chorus. does not work at all.

vita susicivus (blueski), Monday, 5 February 2007 15:18 (eighteen years ago)

Even Higgins has said that the GA covers were shit but they subsidised the more interesting stuff.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Monday, 5 February 2007 15:19 (eighteen years ago)

I think "Jump" is a song it's impossible to fuck up, so GA were bound to do a decent to good version of it.

"I'll Stand By You", on the other hand...

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Monday, 5 February 2007 15:22 (eighteen years ago)

'Jump' is great, been said before but the stop/start effect in the chorus really makes it/gives it something beyond 'pointless cover'.

vita susicivus (blueski), Monday, 5 February 2007 15:53 (eighteen years ago)

That video, however.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Monday, 5 February 2007 15:58 (eighteen years ago)

'i think we're alone now' is the only *really* bad GA cover.

the original hauntology blogging crew (Enrique), Monday, 5 February 2007 16:23 (eighteen years ago)

They could have done a lot better with that, aye.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Monday, 5 February 2007 16:24 (eighteen years ago)

Okay I turned away from the screen for a minute and then turned back and Sonia from Eastenders was shaking her booty. WTF?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 5 February 2007 21:13 (eighteen years ago)

what's happened Matt is that your brain has discovered a way to manifest your deepest fantasies on your telly, and there's no denying it.
