My mate's son is a drummer for The Fall.

Saw they had a fill-in drummer for a few dates but didn't make the connection until he cornered me in ASDA earlier today.

Apparently he's still on the payroll and is likely to return for the tour in March so expect 2 drummers again as well as 2 bassists.

Wonder when it will be my turn?

Antony Holt (ant), Saturday, 3 February 2007 22:11 (eighteen years ago)

He's only 19 I think, Never heard a Fall record until the day he was asked to join.

"In the future, everyone will be a member of the Fall for 15 minutes."

Being a member of the Fall for a day is somewhere between catching a football from Brett Favre and lying on top of Jennifer Love Hewitt as something you'd like to do before you die.

Of course, you'd have to put the Fall wish last, as being a member of the Fall usually brings you that much closer to death from Mark E. Smith anyway.

Cunga (Cunga), Sunday, 4 February 2007 00:19 (eighteen years ago)

You, "Antony", are Mark E Smith, and want us to write your next lyrics for you. We shall oblige.

(We'll refrain from the tired trope of appending "-ah" to every syllable that has a hope of emphasis. You do that much better than your inimitators. However, we shall use the glyph ¤¤¤ when emphasis might be appropriate.)

So! Right! A Fall Lyric!

The Vintner's Lipogram (OleM), Sunday, 4 February 2007 01:44 (eighteen years ago)

Those lyrics were quite a hoot, Vintner's...well done! I can just hear M.E.S. making his way through the lines in my head.

I am shocked and disappointed to see not a single "my mate's son is the drummer for Gay Dad" crack.

hearditonthexico (rogermexico), Sunday, 4 February 2007 02:54 (eighteen years ago)

'ts because Gay Dad are passé -- we're back at "drummer for Cud" again now.
