Force of Nature S/D

So following their appearance on the Rub'n'Tug Fabric mix I'm really liking a lot of the Force of Nature stuff on the last album, III.

However I don't know much about them and am reluctant to venture too far back as I understand they used to be a hip hop group. However are there Major Force style goodies to get as well?

Any other stuff by them I should check out?

Thank you!

i'm loving the shuttlecock-esque "liberate" which i think was out mid-late 06. looping, rolling, sof-thumping goodness. how does it compare to what else is out there?

A bit more mellow. The other stuff not a million miles away from some the stuff on the Map of Africa/Idjuts thread or some of the stuff from last year on DC records (but less lo-fi).

i absolutely adore 'liberate'. the new one 'sequencer' is good too though not quite as majestic. i'm enjoying 'afroshock' too. they seem to cover an incredible range of styles.

recently got the III 12" that came out on mule, and it's growing on me. nothing quite tops liberate for me yet, but it's definitely worthy.

"Black Moon" is still incredibly fucking epic. The mix album on Endless Flight is pretty great as well.

total workhorse-- never leaves the crate. Harvey did a Black Cock edit of the same song used for the sample which is pretty dope too.

Transmute (Still Going Mix)
Sequencer (Rekid Remix)

Treblekicker, Saturday, 30 August 2008 10:33 (seventeen years ago)

maybe the 12" is different, but on the III cd "to the brain" sounds muddy and over-processed or something; plus that baambaata or whatever sample that kicks in is in the wrong key and sounds too dissonant next to the main sample

i still don't get matt edwards remixes, good for being on 'ludes maybe?

original mixes of "sequencer" and "traderoute" are really really awesome, though. and i remember there being a couple other nice ashra type tracks on iii but i never listen to it cause it's so inconsistant.

this: http://www.discogs.com/release/519331 is terrible but i only heard it once; life is too short to re-listen to things that sound terrible (unless someone else vouches for them or whatever)

three weeks pass...

Just bought the III CD (the rereleased Mule version, not the Japanese import) and I guess the track I'd been referring to as "Black Moon" is actually "Undefeated"? Okay, whatever, I still stand by my (revised) declaration of 3 weeks ago.

Is the second album (creatively titled II) any good or is it more of the debut?

i figured i might post this here as it is where i recognized the track. "Straight Ahead" off of III and the 12" features a track that Disco Bloodbath just featured on their RA Podcast you can find here:

http://www.residentadvisor.net/podcast-episode.aspx?id=139

The track I'm wondering about is featured around 12:39. The chugging guitars are clearly recognizable and Force Of Nature pulled a loop or two from it for "Straight Ahead". Any help with IDing this would be super helpful!

Okay, I just listened to the clips on Boomkat, and right off the bat the first track heavily samples "Broken English." Fucking sold.
