PRKLTR (flezaffe), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 15:31 (eighteen years ago)

Dive in anywhere dude -- a lot of good stuff here.

Mark (MarkR), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 15:33 (eighteen years ago)

Very nice! Start with the Hafler trio

is anyone anticipating the new Baaderonixx? (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 15:34 (eighteen years ago)

WU-TANG no question.

A-ron Hubbard (Hurting), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 15:38 (eighteen years ago)

You must have an inkling of what the Wu Tang sounds like.

ramon fernandez (ramon fernandez), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 15:38 (eighteen years ago)

Sven!

jimn (jimnaseum), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 15:38 (eighteen years ago)

Play it at least 10 times before you bother with any of the other stuff.

A-ron Hubbard (Hurting), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 15:39 (eighteen years ago)

C93 - In Menstrual Night
H30 - Thirsty Fish
E Ehlers - Plays

and those are two of the least mindblowing Nurse With Wound records, so don't get put off of them.

WU TANG WU TANG WU TANG WU TANG

about:coffee (fandango), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 16:08 (eighteen years ago)

if you've never played them you should just sell them and buy stuff that you would listen to.

scott seward (scott seward), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 16:10 (eighteen years ago)

based on just one track I've always wanted to hear the rest of that Ekkehard Ehlers record (Plays) too, so that.

about:coffee (fandango), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 16:10 (eighteen years ago)

these are all great. terse descriptions follow.

Byzar - Gaiatronyk Vs. The Cheap Robots (Asphodel)
- the best of the NYC "Illbient" crop, IMHO.

Current 93 - In Menstrual Night (Durtro)
swirly, loopy opium dream music. atypical but very beautiful.

Ekkehard Ehlers - Plays (Staubgold)
the five tribute EPs. great variety. fantastic CD.

Robert Fripp / Brian Eno* - The Essential Fripp And Eno (Venture Records (UK)) -
this is No Pussyfooting, some of Evening Star and a few non-essential bonus tracks.

Recloose - Cardiology (Studio !K7)
- brilliant tech-house. unlike anything else on your list.

Scorn - Gyral (Scorn Recordings)
- first of Harris' solo Scorn forays. nearly as good as Evanescence

Tony Wakeford / Steven Stapleton - Revenge Of The Selfish Shellfish (Tursa)
- one of the prettiest things TW or SS ever did.

Troum & Yen Pox - Mnemonic Induction (Malignant Records)
- superior dark ambient mindmeld from two of the craft's finest.

Various - Ohren Des Kaiser Hirohito (Dom)
- classic comp feat. most of the noteworthy postindutrial oddballs from HNAS' inner circle.

Ghost Bear Junior High Attendance Party (Ghost Bear Junior High Attenda), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 16:12 (eighteen years ago)

based on just one track I've always wanted to hear the rest of that Ekkehard Ehlers record (Plays) too, so that.
That's a great record. The Cassavetes pieces are just stunning. I'd recommend the "Betrieb" record on Mille Plateaux by him as well if you are into "Plays"

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 18:50 (eighteen years ago)

except i hate ebay and the local 2nd hand music store pays €3 max for used cds, so i usually donate them to the library.

listening to the wu album now. is it supposed to sound so murky?

PRKLTR (flezaffe), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 21:23 (eighteen years ago)

Yup.

It's Tough to Beat Illious (noodle vague), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 21:31 (eighteen years ago)

oh.

PRKLTR (flezaffe), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 21:36 (eighteen years ago)

Good choice, PRKLTR.

The Reverend (R. J. Greene), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 22:01 (eighteen years ago)

not a keeper. i like Tearz and Can It Be All So Simple, thats about it.

PRKLTR (flezaffe), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 22:15 (eighteen years ago)

"not a keeper"

Takes all sorts!

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 23:09 (eighteen years ago)

Although to be honest, it took me a little while to get the Wu.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 23:09 (eighteen years ago)

Seriously I think 36 Chambers takes a few listens. I would recommend you persevere.

It's Tough to Beat Illious (noodle vague), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 23:10 (eighteen years ago)

The W was pretty good! im not anti-wu, at heart.

Plays seems pretty random so far and has tinnitus noises, i dont like that.

PRKLTR (flezaffe), Wednesday, 7 February 2007 23:20 (eighteen years ago)

Best Wu Tang review evah.

paulhw (paulhw), Thursday, 8 February 2007 03:05 (eighteen years ago)

Recloose - Cardiology (Studio !K7)

but yeah, you really owe it to yourself to get down with that Wu record...

Disco Nihilist (mjt), Thursday, 8 February 2007 09:17 (eighteen years ago)

I'll also take this opportunity to mention how excellent Plays by Ekkehard Ehlers is.

It really is excellent.

Thomas Mehlt (Tokyo Ghost Stories), Thursday, 8 February 2007 19:21 (eighteen years ago)

Cardiology is great, I'd choose that even over the Wu (which is a bit toot murky for my tastes too - and Tearz is my favourite track off it).
