you betcha

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Thursday, 8 February 2007 20:49 (nineteen years ago)

Caused me to begin liking the band. Which, I guess, what records are supposed to do. So, yes.

the new sincerity (Pye Poudre), Thursday, 8 February 2007 20:51 (nineteen years ago)

Great collection. I got it for my cousin for Christmas, but I don't think she really "got" it. :\

be home by 11 (orion), Thursday, 8 February 2007 21:04 (nineteen years ago)

maybe she needs more weed.

racist illustrator for hire (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 8 February 2007 21:04 (nineteen years ago)

It's super and disc 2 especially so.

strom (strom), Thursday, 8 February 2007 21:34 (nineteen years ago)

She's like fifteen, is it okay to ask her if she wants to smoke a fattie next time i'm home?

be home by 11 (orion), Thursday, 8 February 2007 21:35 (nineteen years ago)

i think i need to wait a few years.

be home by 11 (orion), Thursday, 8 February 2007 21:35 (nineteen years ago)

Kicks ass...and such a value at $11.00 US for 2 cds.

William Selman (William Selman), Thursday, 8 February 2007 22:07 (nineteen years ago)

probably yeah, ian. but exposure to the dead c is probably a good way to ease young people into a life of weed.

racist illustrator for hire (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 8 February 2007 22:09 (nineteen years ago)

Or bore 'em off one.

the new sincerity (Pye Poudre), Thursday, 8 February 2007 22:13 (nineteen years ago)

she likes sigur ros, so she can't be very easily bored!

I bought this off one of the band at ATP before Xmas. It's a great overview. I still need to get some of their albums, I only have Eusa Kills.

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Thursday, 8 February 2007 23:14 (nineteen years ago)

i finally got this! if you like eusa kills, maybe 'trapdoor fucking exit' is a good next one? i kind of stopped at 'tusk,' which i love. i've heard mixed things about the newer stuff; should i get anyway?

plan b: videodrome (fauxhemian), Thursday, 8 February 2007 23:42 (nineteen years ago)

a big YES to Trapdoor F.E., my fave Dead C except maybe Harsh 70's Reality.

sleeve (sleeve), Friday, 9 February 2007 01:02 (nineteen years ago)

those are my two faves as well. Roger Fidelity is a booster for Operation of the Sonne, which is long and shambolic, crystal-gazing drone(rock). so if ya like the longer ones..

i was listening to the "Metric" album by Gate yesterday, which is just wunnerful. Always on the look out for the other Majora Gate LPs, but they don't seem to crop up.

be home by 11 (orion), Friday, 9 February 2007 01:14 (nineteen years ago)

and yeah, get The Damned while it's still available. I think the other recent stuff is OOP.

be home by 11 (orion), Friday, 9 February 2007 01:24 (nineteen years ago)

Dr Sagan is correct - I think Operation of the Sonne is one of the most pertfect guitar albums ever.

Hafta say - and I'm in the minority here - but my fandom waned after seeing them at ATP. They were always one of my favorite bands, but their set - which everyone else I talked to thought was a festival highlight - was bland and bordered on offensive. Could have been my mood though but i don't think so.

Oh also - Gate's The Lavender Head (2xLP version) is the world's most underrated album to feature backwards record loops.

But all Dead C up until around Repent or Tusk - classic

Roger Fidelity (Roger Fidelity), Friday, 9 February 2007 02:07 (nineteen years ago)

I think the other recent stuff is OOP.

Already? Fuxor.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 9 February 2007 02:10 (nineteen years ago)

well, the double CD s/t thing is anyway. i think the split with konono is too. i could be wrong about the rest.

be home by 11 (orion), Friday, 9 February 2007 02:28 (nineteen years ago)

why'd they borrow the a handful of dust title? or at least a paraphrase of it.

keyth (keyth), Friday, 9 February 2007 03:15 (nineteen years ago)

So awesome.

Ivan G (Ivan), Friday, 9 February 2007 03:30 (nineteen years ago)

well, the double CD s/t thing is anyway.

Ah, I'm lucky there, then.

I ever tell you guys about how one of the best times I had in Dunedin was spending the afternoon talking about food and drink with Michael Morley? Even took me over to his favorite liquor store to sample the latest Scottish whiskey deliveries.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 9 February 2007 03:31 (nineteen years ago)

I think its pretty great. I already owned Trapdoor Fucking Exit, Harsh 70's Reality, The White House, which I think are some of the best but there's some great alt. versions of songs I never knew about. Also some great reading. I think its a must-have for anyone - The Dead C fanatic or the newcomer..

Sir Echo (Sir Echo), Friday, 9 February 2007 17:03 (nineteen years ago)

two months pass...
HAY GUYZ NEW DEAD C ALBUM ON BA DA BING.

future artists. haven't got all the way through it yet but out of the four songs i've listened to there's one attempted trapdoor fucking exit sounding thing. rest is more sprawly sprawl ala the 2cd language recordings thing.

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Sunday, 15 April 2007 12:04 (eighteen years ago)

i admire their peversity - after playing a ROCK set at ATP I was sorta expecting something along the lines of the White House or even the Dammed, but yeah, this seems pretty abstract and dense, heavier on the electronics than I was expecting, but still w/ enough of that fugged torpor that I think of their signature sound to keep me coming back for more

Ward Fowler, Sunday, 15 April 2007 14:12 (eighteen years ago)

is this out yet? or just leaked?

hstencil, Sunday, 15 April 2007 15:52 (eighteen years ago)

midheaven says 5/21. i got promo.

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Sunday, 15 April 2007 16:01 (eighteen years ago)

hstencil, Sunday, 15 April 2007 16:25 (eighteen years ago)

Ward Fowler, Sunday, 15 April 2007 17:19 (eighteen years ago)
