I suspect only a minor fraction of stuff from this era is in print now, and there's probably a Peel Sessions sort of goldmine ("goldmine" is probably the wrong word for such unpopular music) in the vaults of WKCR and WBAI. Black Saint and Soul Note did a good job, over the subsequent decade, of recording leading lights like David Murray and Oliver Lake, as leaders and as members of the World Saxophone Quartet.

A look at the William Parker sessionography gives a hint of some of the younger musicians from the '69-'81 period not included on Wildflowers — Ensemble Muntu (which included Parker and Rashid Bakr, who were later Cecil Taylor's rhythm section), and was led by Jemeel Moondoc; Billy Bang; Cooper-Moore; Raphe Malik and Ramsey Ameen (part of Taylor's Units during the latter part of this period); Daniel Carter; Jason Hwang…

I didn't know Spotify had the whole Wildflowers comp. I was looking around for a while.
That thing is amazing. It's dominated my last two weekends, and I feel like I barely know it.
