RFI: An up-tempo modern doo wop song about astronomy and love

Long time ago there was a thread about this song on ILM. Apparently, it is a song by some crazy/bohemian/borderline schizo person that was recorded on uni campus (berkley?) during the 80's.
I remembera a couple of lines:
Hey, Mr. Astronomer, what's it gonna be", "Will she ever fall in love with me", and then there are some lines about the month of june and how astronomy will have to be revised.

That's a lyric in "I Don't Believe in the Sun" by The Magnetic Fields. But I don't know anything about the rest, unfortunately.
