Okay...so I bought a ticket to see the Police in June 2007...

Has anyone else seen them play recently? What should I expect? I don't even have all their albums yet to be honest (well, I do now, but I'm just getting to grips with Zenyatta Mondatta & Ghost In The Machine). All I can say is, I have grown to appreciate them more over the years. I pulled out the Synchronicity album tonight and thanked a non-existent god that I was born at a time that allowed me to experience the 80's musically, growing up. I was in love for the first time at the ripe age of 12 and several songs from that record were totally wrapped up with my silly romantic feelings. I found I don't even mind hearing the singles from that now, which surprised me.

Anyway, I know there are a lot of folks in the world who are so repulsed by the very idea of Sting that they can't take the idea of the Police and I don't understand these people. For god's sake if it were Sting doing a gig, I wouldn't even bat an eyelash, let alone spend $60 on a ticket. Big fuckin' difference between Sting solo and the Police.

Wow this is weird, nu-ILX just said there was one new answer to this thread, when in fact there are none yet.

Bimble, Sunday, 25 February 2007 07:40 (eighteen years ago)

Now there are two new answers! Does this mean a ghost posted the first response??? Or just the invisible man?

Bimble, Sunday, 25 February 2007 07:41 (eighteen years ago)

Bimble, obviously it's the Deus Ex Machina!

Lostandfound, Sunday, 25 February 2007 08:24 (eighteen years ago)

Hahaha...there is an In The Nursery song called that isn't there? In fact, I realized I still have that record. I am going to pull it out right now! "Sonority-A Strength" it was called. A 12". I know I still have it. (digs through vinyl...)

Bimble, Sunday, 25 February 2007 08:27 (eighteen years ago)

Yes I have it and yes it has a song called that. So there. I'm going to put it on my record player just as soon as I get done with what I'm listening to right now.

Never mind, this thread is supposed to be about the Police. Sorry for the detour.

I know this is so against the ILX grain, but here's a recent discussion about the Police somewhere else on the interwebs:

Ha!

Lostandfound, Sunday, 25 February 2007 08:40 (eighteen years ago)

Hahahaha you had an illegal link! (much like Marcello did on that other thread)
It's kindof like having a nu-ILX fart! Not your fault, though, of course.

Bimble, Sunday, 25 February 2007 08:42 (eighteen years ago)

OMG I was NOT WARNED OF A XPOST! Now I know what it feels like! The point is to confuse individuals who are already intoxicated and do not need to be confused! The mission of nu-ILX!

Bimble, Sunday, 25 February 2007 08:44 (eighteen years ago)

I saw them in '84 and thought they were terrible back then. I'd only be interested now if they just played all of Outlandos D'Amour and maybe "Demolition Man."

Elvis Telecom, Sunday, 25 February 2007 08:49 (eighteen years ago)

Bimble, I'd say it was more of a belch, or maybe a hiccup, than a fart. There is no miasmic cloud. But that could be because I'm getting all Yessed out here in time-honoured ILM fashion.

Lostandfound, Sunday, 25 February 2007 08:57 (eighteen years ago)

Hmm. Perhaps you are right.

Mr. Telecom is also right, though. "Demolition Man" is pretty extraordinary.
